Overview

A returning Smart Family is looking for a full-time nanny for their active and creative 4-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter. The family is located in South Park Slope, Brooklyn. For the remainder of this school, the work schedule will vary depending on the day of the week, but it guarantees 40 hours a week. In the summer, the family travels to their home upstate in Rhinebeck for typically 4 weeks in July, in which the position will be live-in Monday through Friday. In the fall, when school starts again, the position will be half family assistant while kids are in school and half childcare when the kids arrive home. The family will guarantee 40 hours year-round, $30 to $35 an hour, plus Metrocard, Healthcare, PTO, and Sick time. When you travel with the family during the summer, they will pay an additional $50 a night for convenience. The position starts in May. The Ideal Sitter for this Job

The ideal nanny for this family is someone who is kind, creative, and can do a lot of activities with the kids—someone energetic and engaging who can run around with them. The girl loves school and learning, so a nanny open to helping with homework and able to guide the children through that is a must! Someone who speaks another language is a plus but not required. A driver's license is not mandatory, but definitely a plus! The family travels a lot, especially in summer as mentioned, so they would love a nanny who is open to traveling with them. This is particularly important in the summer when they go upstate. A Nanny that is comfortable with air travel, driving, and swimming as well.

About the Children

Girl, 6- Going to school full time. Very curious and social. She loves school and learning, is very creative like to draw and paint. She is currently doing a drama class and loving it. Boy, 4 - Going to school three days/week. Very energetic, loud, and rambunctious. Laughs a lot. Really into reading and loves to make up stories. He also loves playing with instruments and being musical. He has recently been trying to figure out his boundaries and learning to voice his opinion to his sister rather than go with what she wants to do—learning to make his voice heard. Really fun bunch of kids!

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will be the care and nurturing of the children, specifically including the following: -Create a stimulating, nurturing, and safe environment for the children -Supervise the children’s activities at all times -Plan and prepare meals for the children -Perform housework related to child care, including washing the child’s clothes, cleaning up after meals, tidying play areas, washing children’s dishes -Teach the children good social manners -Play with the children, both indoors and outdoors -Help with educational activities, including reading with the child, math activities -Discipline the children as per parent philosophy, when necessary -Pick up the children from school -Take the children to and from activities -Arrange playdates for the children

Additional Information

Please note the family travels to their home upstate in Rhinebeck for typically 4 weeks in July, in which the position will be live-in Monday through Friday. The family will pay for all of your travel expenses and daily expenses while on trips. Air travel and swimming are required. The family will be moving later this year but will remain in the same neighborhood.
