UPDATED HOURLY RATE, $40 to $45/hour, SHORT TERM, PART-TIME: Nanny needed for TriBeCa family with three kids, 8, 5 & 3!
Overview
A veteran Smart Family in TriBeCa is looking for part-time afterschool nanny with special needs experience to join their team from now until July 14th. From now until mid-June, when school gets out, you'll work with them Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Fridays from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Then, from June 20th through July 1st, the schedule changes to 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM, as the family will be spending time on Long Island in a Beach House that is only a 40-minute commute from Penn Station and even closer from Atlantic Barclay. They'll pay your LIRR fare, as well as your hourly rate while you commute. Then it's back to their apartment in TriBeCa from July 5th through the 14th. You'll be working on a team alongside their full-time nanny to manage all three kids. They've been through some ups and downs lately and are looking for a new afterschool Nanny who can connect and empathize with all three of their kids, but primarily their oldest 8-year-old boy who is on the spectrum (high functioning). The ideal candidate for this position is patient, has special needs experience, and a professional demeanor - but also a willingness to connect with their son and be a fun, warm, and kind friend! Fun, silly, but boundary setting nannies should apply! It's $30 to $35/hour gross for 20 hours/week guaranteed. It begins ASAP and will run through July 15th. The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Somebody who has experience with special needs kids or similar experience. The 8-year-old, who is on the spectrum but high functioning, has really connected in the past to people who take an active interest in him and his interests. He can lash out at his caregivers, but also responds well to people who are fun, silly, and very creative. Ideally, they're looking for a high-energy Nanny who can set very firm but loving boundaries and has experience with kids on the spectrum. They've faced some personal challenges and loss recently and a super empathetic and emotionally intuitive person in this role is also must. Patience is also a must, as is the willingness to work with their full-time nanny who has been with them for years. They family would also really somebody who is helpful, can take initiative, and help out around the house. Because there are so many moving parts after school, somebody who is city savvy would be really helpful as well! Somebody who can quickly figure out whether it's better to hop in a Lyft or take the subway to afterschool activity.
Schedule
From now until June 20th, the schedule is: Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Fridays from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM in TriBeCa From June 20th through July 1st, it's Monday through Friday, 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM close on Long Island (near JFK, commutable). *The family will pay your LIRR fare, as well as your hourly while you commute* From July 5th through July 14th: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM back in TriBeCa!
About the Children
Boy, 8-years-old - On the spectrum, high functioning. He loves Pokémon! He is also obsessed with Nintendo Switch which he can use after bath and homework. If you would like to connect with a kid through games on the Switch, that would be the way to his heart! He's recently really gotten into reading. He likes graphic novels; Dog Man, The Tree House. He likes comics! And he loves to build and do art projects. He enjoys Kiwi crates, Legos. Anything with designing and building. Girl, 5-years-old - She's super active! She loves music and dancing and singing. She LOVES arts and crafts. Girl, 3-years-old - Female - She's a cute toddler and they're just learning about her personality. Currently, she loves to dress up and put on fake kids make up and fake jewelry (very cute!)
Responsibilities
Until the school year ends in June, you'll start your day tag-teaming school pick-up with the full-time Nanny and from there, take one or two of the kids to various afterschool activities like karate, swimming, or ballet. If it's an activity free day or you're taking them home for the evening, you'll engage the kids in creative play or super fun arts and crafts. They have a playroom, and their previous Nanny did a ton of imaginative play and games with them there, which they really loved! You'll also make sure the boy does his homework and help him as needed. The full-time Nanny makes dinner, and you'll help her wrangle them to the dinner table. After, you'll help the boy with bath. During the summer months, the kids will be coming home from summer camp and the afternoons will be similar, but with more creative play time.
Additional Information
They are vaccinated and adults are boosted. They're looking for a fully vaccinated and boosted nanny! The position is short term and will require commuting (40 minutes from Penn Station) via LIRR to Long Island daily, paid for by the family for two weeks June.
