UPDATED RATE: Part time in South Slope w/ 3-year-old boy! $40/hour plus benefits like a Citi Bike Membership!

Overview

Are you looking for a few weeks of full-time hours this summer before moving into a regular afterschool schedule? Do you know the lay of the land in Brooklyn and are a clear, comfortable and direct communicator, PLUS love toddlers? This new Smart Family is looking for a nanny to join their team for two full time weeks starting August 15th, and then transition to a part-time schedule in September. Their 3-year-old son has a super fun personality! It's: M-F, 1:30 PM or 2 PM to 6 PM and $30 to $35/hour for 22 or 23 hours/week guaranteed, plus sick time, PTO, monthly MetroCard OR a Citi Bike Membership, and partial healthcare reimbursement. They're ideally looking for a person with occasional flexibility to work full days on school holidays or off weeks too. They're looking for an August 15th start date for two full time weeks, and then it will transition to the regular schedule. The family is prioritizing Brooklyn based candidates and those with special needs experience so be sure to include that in your app!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Do you have experience working with kids who have IEPs? Mom would love to meet you! Above all, you are flexible and patient - A go with the flow nanny who will get excited about this little dude's natural curiosity. You have a knack for supporting kids learning, not necessarily in an academic way, but in an emotional way! Are you well known for your direct communication skills? If you're a clear and comfortable communicator, this job is for you. Parents are clear and comfortable communicators and would like somebody to be direct with them (Mom's dream is for somebody to say, "I think it would be easier if you went into the office today!"). Do you live close-ish to South Slope/Propsect Park/Greenwood and are comfortable commuting on buses (because we all know how the R train can be)? Better yet, do you love walking? They're 20 minutes from Prospect Park and have wagon to stick this little guy in. Also, he likes to scoot! If you live local, that would be ideal, but it's not required. Also, a person who has a "leave no trace" mindset so that everything is cleaned up for Mom when she takes over, would be amazing!

Schedule

Monday through Friday, with days starting sometimes at 1:30 PM and some starting at 2:00 PM and going to 6 PM. Flexibility to cover occasional days off from school and some weeks where they need extra coverage would be lovely! Mom is super organized and already has the EXACT schedule worked out from now until December.

About the Children

Boy, 3 years old - He's a big, fun personality in a small package! He's had some early medical challenges and has some ongoing therapies, like Occupational therapy. He has a shiny new IEP to help work on gross motor skills. He's a sensitive kid and slow to warm up, but once he does, he's really amazing. One thing that is helpful to understand about him - he's the son and the grandson of engineers! That makes him very observant and VERY into facts and knowledge. He loves to categorize the world and file away knowledge. That said...get ready to jam with this little guy to Bruce Springsteen, the Beatles, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan, his favorites! He can lip synch to all of them. He's a dude that can really hyper focus. His Mom says he requires patience. For example, he's still not quite potty trained - this is a big thing to keep in mind, since he's 3.5. His teachers all adore him. Oh...and get ready to run because this guy likes to use his scooter!

Responsibilities

You'll arrive at their house in South Slope (near Greenwood Cemetery!) to throw some laundry in the washer or load the dishwasher real quick, and then grab a snack, umbrella or sunscreen (whatever you need for the afternoon!) and head to school pick-up. Currently, they aren't sure which pre-school he'll be attending but this will be nailed down in August. From there, you'll head to some of his therapy appointments, a music class, or go home for some fun activities. Mom takes over at 6 PM!

Additional Information

Because the little guy is too young to be vaccinated, they are looking for some awareness around this and a person who is still being somewhat conservative would be best! Adults are all vaccinated and boosted.
