Overview

This busy and fun returning family is looking for an afterschool super star AND homework helper extraordinaire to join their team. They have four kids, 13-year-old twin boys, an 11-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl. Their house is a busy one, with friends, piano teachers, tutors, and family coming and going all day! They're looking for somebody who can both hang with the younger two afterschool, taking them to afterschool activities, and then buckle in for homework help with the teens after dinner (they have A LOT of homework!). Mondays you'll arrive early to get in some household tasks and most Fridays, you'll leave a little earlier. Mom is there and you'll be working alongside her and their full-time housekeeper! It's $30 to $35/hour gross for 35 hours/week guaranteed plus sick time, PTO, monthly MetroCard, and a partial healthcare reimbursement if you need it! They'd ideally like a post Labor Day start but are flexible for the right fit.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

While this isn't required, if you're a local NYCer and you went through the High School admissions process here, that would be a huge help for them! Beyond that, being able to sit with the teens to help with their school projects, studying, and completing homework. City savvy folks would do best here too, as there will be school pick up and afterschool activity logistics, however the family does have a driver that can be utilized as well! Somebody who has solid experience with these age groups and can help minimize screen time (the twins were the last in their class to get a phone, so the family isn't big on screens!). Beyond that, being organized and possessing a solid desire to help out where needed and having a bit of flex on the start and end time of the day is great.

Schedule

Monday, 1 PM to 10 PM Tuesday, through Thursday, 3 PM to 10 PM Friday, 3 PM to 8 PM

About the Children

Twin boys, 13-years-old : They're easy and well-rounded kids. Both are very sporty - they both play a lot of tennis and basketball. Both boys are surfers! They spend summers in North Carolina and spent six months of the covid times in Costa Rica. They're also into skiing. They're gaining independence. They got electric scooter recently and they love to go out and ride them on the street when Mom lets them! They're social, have a lot of friends. One of the twins recently switched schools and goes to a school specifically for dyslexia. Boy, 11: He pays in a band! He's really into music. He's also very sporty and surfs and skis. He's well rounded, not super intensely focused on any particular thing, he loves to read. Girl, 7 - she's a mix between really girly and really tough...she's grown up with all those brothers! She's a super easy kid. She's always had to go with the flow and she's a dream for babysitters. She can hold her own. She has a super sweet group of girlfriends at school. Tennis once a week, soccer once a week, piano too! She loves arts and crafts, if there is down time, she'd love to do this with you! She doesn't have homework yet. Board games, reading...loves it all!

Responsibilities

You'll be working alongside Mom to get everybody where they need to go afterschool and then get all the homework done too. After you do school pick up, you'll meet back at home and get dinner going and do some tidying up. Then you'll help to get the younger tow to bed and then, it's homework time with the teens! This has become increasingly important as the boys are starting the process of applying to high school and will be studying for tests and completing projects, etc. On Mondays, you'll come in early to help get the week situated and meal prep, throw in laundry, organize kids rooms, etc.

Additional Information

They're all vaxxed and boosted and looking for the same! If you're game for summer traveling to NC with them, that's awesome but it's not required.
