PART-TIME: Nanny needed for 2 kids in East Village for $30/hour + benefits!

Overview

Are you a helpful and kind person who likes variety in your day-to-day job duties? Are you an eco-conscious person who would love to hang with kids who call themselves "planet protectors"? Want to end your workday in the East Village? We have a lovely Smart Family who just moved back to NYC from L.A. and they are looking for an upbeat, and supportive nanny to join their team. They are experienced employers, having nannies in the past and both Mom and Dad have worked with children before as well! Mom is pregnant with their third kiddo and is due in May. While they'll probably hire a post-partum doula to assist her in the Spring, they could really use some support now! They have a super sweet two-year-old boy and a lovely and outgoing 5-year-old girl. The job is primarily childcare focused, but household tasks will be a part of it! Mom owns coffee shops and might even have some work there, if that was something you were open to. Sounds fun right? It's $30/hour for 30 hours/week but they're open to a few dollars more an hour for somebody with an early childhood background, like teaching, a degree, certificate, etc. so be sure to specify that in your application. It also includes PTO, sick time, a monthly MetroCard and possible health care stipend!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You're an awesome, positive, helpful and supportive nanny that is down for helping! Dog lovers would do well here as they have a 9-year-old Samoyed who is very lovable and if you're down, walking her on occasion would be lovely (but not required!). The five-year-old can push some boundaries (like all five-year old's!) so your confidence and experience will come in handy here. You're a gentle but firm boundary provider. Loving boundaries as we call it! Mom is also looking for somebody very positive, who clearly loves to be there. The family is big into conservation and recycling. The kids call themselves planet protectors. You don't need to be Captain Planet but being open and mindful of their preferences is important! (Though if you are Captain Planet, please list that in your application!). In the past, Mom has sometimes found herself at home with all the household tasks while a sitter is in the other room having fun with the kids - she'd love to find somebody who can help her switch this equation! Somebody who is emotionally intuitive and knows when to step away and let Mom have some quality time with the kids but also can recognize when she has stuff to do, and it would be great for you to distract them.

Schedule

M/T/Th: 2:30 PM to 7 PM Wed: 12:30 to 7 PM Fri: 12 pm to 4 pm ...plus two later evenings a week for 30 hours/week guaranteed

About the Children

Girl, 5 years old: She loves art. She's tall for her age. She's very sweet and very smart and very creative. She's passionate. She'll push the boundaries from time to time, she's tough and determined, but she's a great kiddo. She's into ballet. She's warm and wise and has a big heart. Boy, 2 years old: Really sweet, contemplative, likes structure. He's really talking a lot. He's starting to look for boundaries a bit. He's playful. He loves to laugh, and he loves his big sister. He's in preschool in St Mark's!

Responsibilities

Arrive early for some household chores like organizing the kid's clothes, working with Mom on projects, errands, groceries etc. They have a housekeeper who comes in once a week to help as well. Then you'll shift to helping with the kids after they get out of preschool and Kindergarten. They go to two different schools so walking and/or taking the bus for pick-up is part of that process. Beyond that, they're looking for a person who is flexible and adaptable and likes variety to help them tackle whatever needs to be taken care of for the day!
