Overview

This wonderful new SmartFamily has a unique situation and they're looking for an equally unique and awesome nanny to join their team. Do you have full flexibility in your life right now? Would you like a position that offers a mix of both long stretches of live-in and long stretches of time off? Are you dedicated to childcare and looking to take your career to the next level? This family is looking for a fully on-call nanny for their two kids, a boy aged 12 and a girl aged 7. Mom travels a lot for work and the position is fully round the clock live-in while she's gone, sometimes for weeks at a time. When she's home, the hours fluctuate. You might receive consecutive weeks off or come in for a few afterschool hours. Summers are mostly fully off. The family is open to exploring one person for the role (which they've done in the past) or two nannies on rotation. It's $40/hour generally and will include built in over-time, sick time, PTO, and a healthcare reimbursement. Travel will occasionally be involved. They're focused on finding the right fit and we're open to hearing what you would need to make a position like this work for you!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You have some solid experience and know that childcare is your chosen career path! You are fun, active, creative, intellectually curious and looking to elevate your nanny career! This is an awesome position for somebody who is super organized, incredibly flexible, and is at a point in their life where they fully understand the commitment level needed here. Mom is looking for a person who has a team member attitude! Somebody supportive and genuinely excited about working with her family but that also understands the unique situation they're in. Despite being higher profile, this family is still pretty normal, and they want somebody who can relax with them. Honesty and very clear and upfront communication are very important here. Feeling comfortable bringing things up! Also, somebody who is down to earth and intuitive. Street smart is important, as is being energetic, warm and kind. It's a fluid position! It ebbs and flows and embracing that is key. If you have experience with kids who have ADHD, that could be helpful too! Also experience with this age group as well, would be a bonus.

Schedule

This is a unique position with a single, working Mom, who is looking for round the clock, on-call support. While she is in NYC, the position would primarily be afterschool, or you would simply have time-off. When she is traveling, sometimes for weeks at a time, the position becomes live-in, 24/7. The position could be just one nanny (which they've done in the past) or two rotational nannies.

About the Children

Boy, 12: Recently diagnosed with ADHD. He's bright, funny, artistic. Loves skating and he loves movies. Also into drawing. He struggles with school because of ADHD, but socially he is great. He’s sensitive. Won’t share his feelings easily. Needs warmth and energy and fun, likes to be challenged in a playful way. Once he trusts someone, he loves a cuddle, and he will open up more. He can be challenging, he’s 12, but not in any painful way, but he’s growing and changing and that is always a challenge! Figuring out how to communicate, as the teen years hit. Girl, 7: SUPER smart. Is always engaged. Loves to try anything and everything. She’s super social and highly independent. She loves gymnastics. She just started Karate. She loves art. She loves creative writing. She loves homework! She loves cleaning (wow!). She talks a lot and she wants to know everything. She’s highly intuitive. Very truthful. She idolizes her brother. She’s warm and sweet and fun.

Responsibilities

This position is all about support and jumping in where needed. When it's live-in, you will be fully responsible for getting the kids ready in the morning, taking them school, picking them up, and doing the full afternoon and evening routine with them. Helping them with homework, and taking them to their afterschool activities, like karate, skating, and more. You'll be a full manager of their schedules and lives! The oldest kiddo has recently been diagnosed with ADHD, so helping him manage it and working with the family to find the various methods that help with him it too, is important.

Additional Information

This is a fully on-call position. You'll potentially be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement. They're looking for a fully vaccinated nanny! The family is considering two nannies on rotation, so please indicate if you would be interested in that.
