FULL-TIME: Hoboken, NJ with 2 kids! $68K to $82k/year

Overview

Are you looking for a great four-day-a-week position in New Jersey? Do love to work independently? Are you all about those toddler years? This returning Hoboken Family is looking for help with their two kids, ages 3 year and 1. The ideal nanny is very reliable, and structured and can manage the children's day-to-day routine. The kids are very friendly and active and they want someone engaging, fun, communicative, and proactive to meet their milestones and support their learning. It's $30-33/hour gross, plus overtime after 40 hours/week. They are happy to guarantee 44-48 hours/week, including Over Time after 40 hours, PTO, sick time, and a healthcare stipend. The position will begin as soon as they find the right fit, so apply now!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You're an independent go-getter with a love for early childhood education. You prefer fewer but longer days to shorter days with more frequency! Driving will also be helpful for this position. Love the Hamptons? Great! The family has a house there and commuting via trail to their house for some vacations will be required. At the end of the day, they're looking for reliability and flexibility. The position is 4 days/week and they have another nanny who does Friday through Sunday. They're looking for somebody who can stay an hour later or here and there and also do occasional overnights! Ideally, you're also an awesome communicator and can let them know when you have something after work that is important so they can get home on time or get coverage. It's all about working together! Someone with empathy and who is super engaging with the kids, particularly with the boy who does best with hands-on teaching.

Schedule

The core schedule is Monday to Thursday 8 A.M./8:30AM to 7 P.M./8 P.M, with flexibility to stay a bit later sometimes. They are happy to guarantee 44-48 hours/week!

About the Children

Boy, almost 4: He is typically in school about 15 hours/week with his longest days on Mondays and Wednesdays, but he's been getting sick every other week. They are working on a bunch of his developmental milestones because he loves to learn, but he is not independent at all. If you teach him, he will learn it, but he can't necessarily grasp it on his own. He loves flashcards and learning with others. He has to be engaged and loves it. He is verbal and chatty and speaks in full sentences and all. He knows all of his letters and understands his sounds. He knows all of his numbers almost up to 20 and can count objects to almost 10! He's in the 95% + percentile - so he is big! He's a great eater! Baby girl, 1: She is super easy. She is a typical second child. She is on both formula and breastmilk and some lighter purees. She is sick more often because her brother gets sick a lot. She just had RSV and had it in the summer too and was hospitalized. The nanny needs to be mindful of breathing problems when she gets sick. She has no allergies. Both are really good sleepers and will sleep later if they can. They are also on good nap schedules at the moment.

Responsibilities

The boy is usually dressed and at the table eating at 8 AM and he goes to school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mom feeds the baby before they leave and then the nanny takes the baby and the boy to drop the boy off. Then it's all about the baby! Helping her with her milestones. Take her to activities. Pick up the boy midday and go to the park if the weather is good or play at home. Lunch is at 12:30 P.M. and then they both take naps at 1:30 P.M. Here, some cooking would be great along with light household chores. Then, the boy has some activities. By 5:30 P.M., you'll all head home and play for a bit. Then it's dinner, getting ready for bed and the kids are down by 7:00/7:30 pm. There is always the chance the boy will be home all day if he's not well and can't go to school, so the nanny should be prepared to take care of both children just in case. Because both parents are working, it's critical that you are willing to work in the event of mild illness, including colds, bouts with RSV (the baby has had it twice!), and anything else baring a high fever or vomiting or anything more serious like the flu or Covid. As the kids get older, this position will morph into more of a PA role!

Additional Information

The parents are vaccinated and have their boosters. They prefer to have someone who is vaccinated, boosted. Some travel via train to the Hamptons will be required and flexibility to do some later nights and overnights (paid of course!) are important.
