FULL-TIME, FAMILY ASSISTANT: UWS, 6 year old twin boys! $1200/week

Overview

This family of four is transitioning from a full-time family assistant to a part-time one! They're a super generous and lovely family and are looking for someone to care for their sweet twin boys. You'll be responsible for a combination of household management and childcare! Starting in June, they’d love someone to help out around the house, doing things like organizational projects, grocery shopping, and laundry. The boys will be in summer camp (and then school in the fall) until later in the afternoon, but once they’re home, the family is hoping to find someone who will engage with them on their level. Experience with school-aged children is important to this family! They’re also excited to expand the boys’ palates so they’d like someone who is excited and has the ability to cook (though they’re not expecting anything gourmet!). Mom stays up to date on the best parenting techniques for her family (like serving dessert with the main meal to demystify sweets!) and would love to find someone willing to work with her on this! The family is happy to offer $30 to $35/hour gross ($900 to $1,050/week gross for 30 hours/week guaranteed or more), plus PTO & Sick Time, possible Healthcare Stipend, and a MetroCard. (Please include desired benefits when listing your rate on application.) They are happy to flex up to Full-Time, 40 hours/week for the right candidate. Position will start in June but they're looking to meet folks ASAP!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

They're looking for candidates who have experience in household management experience and have worked with families for a few years in NYC. That experience doesn't need to be full-time, it could be part-time! They want to make sure you can handle the NYC after-school shuffle! You're a confident, A-game nanny that is super reliable. Both parents have demanding jobs and need somebody who can be a rock for them. Adaptability is the name of the game with this family and they're looking for somebody who can work on a team with Mom and Dad. You're a professional who can wear a few different hats! You have experience with 6 year olds and love to get deep into play with them! You’re also highly organized and love to keep households running smoothly. You’ll notice when the laundry detergent is low and make sure it’s replenished...that kind of thing. Being open-minded and adaptable is key in this role as is working together with Mom to present a united front with the boys. You’ve got a handle on the sibling dynamic and know how to navigate the different personalities. If you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve for introducing kids to new flavors and textures- this family will love you! This family's previous was with them since the boys were babies and the family would love to find someone looking to make a longer-term commitment. They're expecting some adjustment time as they get used to a new person.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 1 PM to 7 PM - with flexibility to shift up or down a little. The family can also flex up to as many as 40 hours/week. They are happy to guarantee 30 hours/week (or more) and would appreciate someone who can be flexible with their hours to accommodate date nights and afternoon household chores.

About the Children

These twin boys are almost 6! They’re very sweet kids that love to be silly! They’re both in speech therapy. Boy, 6: Marches to the beat of his own drum! He follows his heart and is happy doing his own thing. He’s energetic, creative, and pretty straightforward. He’s a little bigger, a little stronger, a little faster than his brother. Boy, 6: He is obsessed with legos and will just build and build and build! He’s very artistic and detail-oriented. He’s the more sensitive of the two and is often in his own head. He’s thoughtful, curious, and sensitive and knows how to push his brother’s buttons.

Responsibilities

A few hours before the boys finish camp in the summer and school in the fall, you’ll arrive and tackle some household chores. Things like laundry, meal prep, grocery shopping, and more. Once the boys are home, you’ll play, help with homework, and begin the evening routine! Mom and Dad try to get home to have dinner as a family but you’ll be in charge of meals for the boys.

Additional Information

Mom has cat allergies. If you own cats, she asks that you be mindful and maybe keep a lint roller handy!
