Are you looking for a weekend position with a fantastic family? Are you a seasoned traveler and look forward to spending time in new places outside the city? We have the job for you! This returning SmartSitting family is looking for a team player to join them on the weekends. The position will be live-out when the family is in NYC and live-in when they travel, which they often do, to their homes in Long Island and upstate New York. The family has three kids, but you'll primarily spend time with the youngest two. The family's ideal sitter is someone who can juggle being warm and loving while maintaining boundaries with the kids, and somebody who will really engage with them. Someone who's comfortable coordinating and working alongside others is a huge plus, as is the ability to help them get homework and school projects done during the school year. The family is guaranteeing a minimum of 25 hours/weekend but many weeks, when the position is live-in, the hours will go as high as 35 or more. It's $30-$35/hour gross plus reimbursed transportation when you travel upstate or to Long Island, and a retention bonus every six months! The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Do you love to engage with children? The ideal candidate will love to play and engage with the kiddos, while also being adaptable and intuitive in figuring out where to be helpful. A proactive and a professional demeanor are perfect for this role! You're kind and loving, but can maintain the rules and strategies with kids. They may at times attempt to ask for things they can't have (they know what they are doing), so being comfortable saying no when appropriate is ideal. It's particularly important with the oldest two who are smart kids! Since there is a lot of travel with the family, you'll need to be comfortable navigating trains and transportation upstate and on the LIRR. You'll need to be able to swim and drive (for when they're out of town, no city driving required!). The role is primarily with the youngest two, but you should be comfortable being with all three.

Schedule

Friday afternoon through Sunday. When traveling out of town to meet the family in the summer and during holidays, a typical schedule might look like: Friday, 2 PM to 9 PM (including travel time) Saturday, 7AM/8 AM to 9 PM Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM (including travel time) When in town, you'd start around 5 PM on Friday and the end time on Sunday may be a little earlier. They are happy to guarantee 25 hours/weekend but some weekends (see above) may go up to 35 hours or more.

About the Children

Boy, 12- He's playing flag football and is really into golf. He loves video games. He can be challenging at times. Girl, 8- She is a sweet girl. She is super into the performing arts. She loves singing, dancing. and choreography. She is always putting on a show! She has always been super social and outgoing. She loves to be in the mix and be around people. Boy, 5 - He's the youngest and very active!

Responsibilities

They're primarily looking for an extra set of hands on the weekends so mom and dad can spend time with one or two kids and you take the other one or two kids. They'd also love a person to occasionally be with all three so they can go out together. You’ll assist mom and dad, keeping the kids active and engaged, taking them to weekend activities, helping with meal prep and tidying up after baths, bed time, and play. In the evening, you'll help with the dinner, bath, reading routine.

Additional Information

Candidate must be a confident, strong swimmer. Driver’s license required (but no city driving). Both parents are vaccinated and would prefer a candidate who is vaccinated.
