Would you love to work with just one child? Do you value making that one-on-one connection and get excited to design days around their interests? Do you have more flexibility for full-time hours in the summer? This new Smart Sitting family is looking for a fun and active companion for their 5-year-old boy! He’s an only child and Mom values nannies who can connect with him and help him through the after-school routine. They are looking for someone engaging and attentive who can really be a friend to their son. Someone who can help him learn about and explore the world around him! It's $25 to $30/hour + benefits for at least 20 hours/week guaranteed, with the hours shifting to full-time in the summer! They can go up to 25 hours/week if you'd like to get in an hourly early to help chop veggies and do meal prep and help with other household activities.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

If you fully invest in the kids in your care and treat them with the same respect you’d give an adult, this family wants to hear from you! You’re very familiar with the ins and outs of NYC and comfortable navigating the city, taking Ubers or yellow cabs. You have great people skills and accept feedback with ease. You’re someone who engages deeply, creating teaching moments and helping kids apply what they learn in school to the world around them! You’re safety conscious and great at teaching kids manners and basic social skills.

Schedule

Monday through Friday from 1 P.M. or 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. In the summers, schedule shifts to full-time, from 8 A.M. or 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. or 6 P.M. They are happy to guarantee at least 20 hours during the school year! They are open to more hours for a candidate who would love to tackle household management responsibilities and can up to 25 hours/week.

About the Children

Boy, 5 years old: He is an only child but loves to have people he can connect with! He loves Legos, drawing, and working on his letters and numbers. He’s a screen-free kiddo for now. And he’s bilingual - he speaks Korean and English!

Responsibilities

Attention to details is key for this family! Making sure the little guy stays hydrated, grabbing him a tissue if he needs one, offering help if he’s struggling with something- that kind of thing! You'll arrive at the house, help with some tasks and then head out pick him up from school at 2:45 PM and take him to his after school activities in the neighborhood. Then it’s time to play! The parents do all the cooking but would appreciate some help in the kitchen, chopping up veggies and fruit. You’ll also handle laundry for the little guy!
