Overview

The loveliest veteran SmartFamily is headed to Maine for six weeks this summer, starting June 15th and they want to bring YOU along. They have two super fun girls, ages 7 and 9, and they're looking forward to an early summer filled with picnics, swimming, reading, and arts and crafts. Starting June 15th, you'll be with the family in mainland Maine and then in early July, you'll head to an island off the coast! There will be wi-fi but not much else, so this is a great position for unwinding, communing with nature, and enjoying some peace and quiet! In both places, you'll have your own room. It's $25-$30/hour gross for 35 to 40/hour week. They're looking for a June 15th start but are meeting people now in NYC! They're a lovely family that we've been working with for a long time. The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You'll need to know how to swim for this position! Driving is also INCREDIBLY helpful but not a deal breaker. They're ultimately looking for a fun, flexible, go-with-the-flow type person! Somebody who can read the room and match the family's energy. This will be important during parts of the trip when more family members join and the girls might not need you as much! In those cases, it would be great to step back and help with other things if there are things to help with or take some time to yourself. In July, when you're on the island, there will be wi-fi but not much else, so you should be a nature lover! There is a shop and an ice cream place, but otherwise it will be hiking, swimming, etc. No nightlife or social city type activities to do during your time off.

Schedule

Schedule is TBD but you can expect 35 to 40 hours/week! Position starts June 15th!

About the Children

Girl, 7: She is a really fun and sweet girl. She is pretty easy going and not too high energy or active. She loves reading and crafts! She'll be in sailing camp in June and then hanging out with you in July! Girl, 9: She is more high energy than her sister, but equally sweet and fun. She loves reading and crafts too! She'll be in sailing camp in June and then in sleep-away camp for ten days in July.

Responsibilities

Both girls will be in sailing camp in the mornings. In the afternoons, you'll create adventures for you and the girls! They love outdoor activities, they love picnics, reading, swimming and crafts. In July, the 9 year old will go to sleep away camp for 10 days, so you’ll just be with the 7 year old. On the island there is a library, some activities, an ice cream place but other than that, it's really make your own fun. The girls have more autonomy on the island than they do in NYC, which is awesome! This is also a GREAT opportunity for long term projects in art or science.

Additional Information

Knowing how to swim is required. Driving while in Maine will be incredibly helpful, so that you can run to the store and a few other places while on the island. Vaccination against Covid is required and you should be comfortable with their dog! They are also vaccinated against Covid.
