Are you super flexible with your schedule, and looking for something part-time? Are you a master of playing pretend and using your imagination? Are you great at making something out of nothing: an elaborate game, a storytime adventure, or robots fashioned out of cardboard and glue? Then we have the perfect job for you! This really sweet family is looking for a creative, fun sitter to spend time with their two kids, a 2-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy. The schedule is very flexible, and the family is willing to be open-minded in order to find the right candidate, but they can guarantee 15 hours. They’re looking for someone who can start ASAP but can be flexible with this as well for the right sitter. $30-$35/hour, PTO, Sick Time, Metrocard Please also note that the family is away for much of the summer, but would like someone to start now and is happy to figure it out while they travel!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Do you have a background in music, and love sharing it with kids? Are you fun, genuine and warm? This family really wants to find a great personality match! They want a wonderful connection and someone to play with their kids (they don't need someone doing household tasks). Mom will be home, and Dad often works from home, so they need someone who will be a teammate and will work well with them hand in hand! Someone who will be active, engaging and loves to play is of huge importance to Mom and Dad. A huge bonus if you speak Hebrew (or another language)! Someone who is really creative, imaginative, and flexible will be a great fit for this family.

Schedule

This family is willing to be flexible with the schedule for the right candidate! So just let us know clearly in your application when you’re available around the hours listed. They’re ideally looking for someone who can do 15 hours a week, during any daytime hours except Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM when both kids are in school, and one evening per week. While they’re very flexible, when they find the right person and work out dates/times, they’ll set a weekly schedule. This family is happy to guarantee 15 hours/week. Their schedule is subject to change a bit in the fall (but not a ton) when the 2 year old girl increases hours at school. Please also note that the family is away for much of the summer, but would like someone to start now and is happy to figure it out while they travel!

About the Children

Girl, 2: This little girl is joyful, silly and very funny! She’s already going to forest school, and curious about everything in the world around her. She’s very verbal, and wants to do everything her brother does. She’s a typical toddler, in that she sometimes has very big feelings, and she doesn't have a ton of experience being away from Mom and Dad. They'd like to be gradual about learning to be away from her parents! Boy, 6: Their boy is sensitive and thoughtful. Like his sister, he’s very curious and takes in a lot about the world. He loves to build with anything possible, usually Magna-Tiles or blocks. Plays pretend, very imaginative-his current passion is being a firefighter! Separation might be a little tricky for him too, and he feels protective of his little sister with new grown-ups.

Responsibilities

Play, play, play! This role is hugely kid-focused, and is perfect for someone who loves spending quality fun time with the kids in their care. No housework required, merely cleaning up what you’ve played with at the end of the day! You’d be working alongside the parents to entertain them and fuel their imaginations, either in their house, backyard, or at the park, so Mom can get other things done during the day. These parents would also be thrilled to find a candidate who speaks Hebrew (or Spanish), and can share that knowledge with their kids!
