The Ideal Sitter for this Job

The ideal candidate for this role is an After School superstar who can really engage with the kids. The ideal caregiver would be a collaborative teammate who is excited about the prospect of establishing a real relationship with the kids. A team player is super important, as these parents will be around a lot of the time, so they need someone who is comfortable with that and ready to partner with them to help their kids thrive. You must have the ability to get them to their after school activities on time, so punctuality is super important. Someone energetic and adaptable will likely work well with this family. The family values a team player with strong skills in communication and collaboration!

Schedule

Tuesday and Thursday: 2 P.M. to 6:00/6:30 P.M. (with flexibility to stay later) Wednesday: 1:30 P.M. to 6:00/6:30 P.M. (with flexibility to stay later) This family is happy to guarantee 13 hours/week, up to 15 for the right candidate. Please note, they can swap out Tuesday or Thursday for Monday if that was better for the right individual.

About the Children

Girl, 10: Super sporty! She’s super outgoing and expressive. Right now she’s really into athletic activities like basketball and horseback riding! Boy, 7: He’s the artsy one! He loves crafts, art, and music. He likes to play with cars and trains. He’s a bit more shy and reserved than his sister so it may take him a bit longer to warm up! They're both really close to their current sitter and are sad to see them go, so the family is looking for someone who can be sensitive around that. The parents are looking forward to finding another amazing sitter for them to love!

Responsibilities

The day starts with school pickup. Then, you'll be safely transporting the children home or to playdates/after school activities, supervising those playdates. On some days you'll just be engaging them on your own with fun activities, then unwinding from the day and getting dinner together. They subscribe to Hello Fresh, so you'd be making that, or making simple meals such as pasta or mac and cheese for the kids. The family is also looking for some light household tasks and straightening up around the apartment (examples might be making the kids beds, helping clean-up their toys, clean-up after dinner). Please note, this family will be looking for a similar schedule in the summer (likely just with the younger boy), so someone looking to continue in the summer would be great!

Additional Information

The family does not currently have a pet, but may get one in the future, so they're looking for someone who will be comfortable with that. They're also ideally looking for a sitter who is up to date on their CPR certification.
