Starting in May, this wonderful returning Smart Family is looking for a new full-time nanny. They are passionate about their approach to parenting and looking for a nanny who feels the same way! These parents use a combination of combination of "RIE"/respectful parenting and empowerment methods to help their girls thrive. They believe that every child needs guidance in order to unlock the ability to express themselves! It's $32 to $34/hour and the family is happy to guarantee 47.5 hours guaranteed per week, including 7.5 hours of overtime.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

This family uses a combination of RIE/respectful parenting and empowerment. They do not place her on timeouts or deploy “punishments" and feeling aligned with this style is an absolute must! The parents have taught their oldest (and will, with their youngest) to call out her feelings, using language such as "oh you feel sad, let's take a minute to feel that way and take a deep breath." They are respectful of her emotions and choices and will ask that you do the same! They've created an environment where she knows there's no time out, but she understands there are natural consequences to her actions. They're also looking for a sitter who is never on their phone, and is excited to take the girls on lots of adventures, including museum and zoo days! You're experienced with this age group, and are a self-starter who doesn't need instruction throughout the day.

Monday- Friday 8 AM - 5:30 PM The family is happy to guarantee 47.5 hours/week which includes 7.5 hours of overtime!

About the Children

Girl, 4: She goes to preschool for 5 days per week: Loves ballet and gymnastics! She also loves space and science (current nanny does a lot of experiments with her and art projects). Loves books and loves to read with her nanny! This gal also loves the zoo, she's starting to learn to ride a bike, and loves to scooter. Very kind, mild mannered child. Goes to a great, progressive preschool, teachers say she's very in tuned to her feelings and the feelings of those around her. It's very important to the family that the nanny is matching the communication style of the parents when problem solving with the children. The parents never ask the older girl to do things for the little one (for example: go grab your sister's blanket for me, etc). Girl, 8 months: Smiley girl! She is a terrific baby. They just transitioned to full time bottle feeding and soft solids from breastfeeding. She said her first word last night! And has a little tooth coming in. She goes to music class and baby gym class. She takes two 1.5 hour to 2 hour naps. She's rolling over, and she's a good, consistent sleeper!

Responsibilities

You'll arrive at 8:00 AM and help the day get started with the morning routine! The older girl does to preschool 5 days per week, 2 long days (8:45 AM to 3:30 PM) and 3 short days. On longer days, you'll be spending lots of one-on-one time with the baby! She's already a busy girl herself, and has music classes and baby gym classes that you'll be taking her to. You'll take her home, facilitate meals (she's recently transitioned to bottles and soft solids) and nap. On the older's short days, you'll have both kiddos for a longer period of time. The playground is an every day visit, ensuring lots of outside time! The oldest also has ballet and gymnastics classes that you'll take her to. The family also prefers the sitter to walk with the kids whenever possible (not including extreme weather) to and from activities, so a super active sitter who is excited to get their steps in is a must. Their current sitter also helps with meal prep (chopping veggies, other prep work) for the whole family during the baby's nap, and it would be great for their next sitter to help with this too.
