Are you located near Closter, New Jersey (about twenty minutes by car from the George Washington bridge!) and looking for an awesome after-school babysitting position with two very special kids? Do you love multi day arts and crafts projects, drawing, building and creative and imaginative play? Would you love to work in a house with a backyard and ample room to do all kinds of fun projects? Do you have a car? This lovely and warm Bergen County family is looking for their next after-school super star! They need somebody who doesn't mind picking up both kids in their own car from school and then taking them to after-school activities, or back-home for some serious play time. It's a really fun, low stress, straight forward after-school job! The family is offering $25 to $30/hour for 17.5 hours/week, with opportunities occasionally for more hours for date nights and days off from school.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You're a super fun, creative and warm sitter who is comfortable engaging school aged kids! Teachers, grad students and creative types have all excelled in this role. You'll need a car and a clean driving record as well!

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. 17.5 hours/week

About the Children

9 years old, girl: She’s a really good kid. She’s a rule follower. She likes to help. She loves to bake. She started synchronized ice skating intensely recently. She likes wearing the team jacket and team clothes that go along with her ice skating team. Love to read, loves animals. At school, they have a news shows and she has an after-school class where she is an after-school reporter. She plays piano and she does flute. Teacher says she does math on her own and all her work on her own. She’s pretty self sufficient. She likes to be right (and most of the time she is!!). They got her a phone after Christmas, and she’s NOT on her phone all the time. They have to remind her that she can google things on her own. She loves to ride her bike at the park nearby. Medically, she has hyper hypothyroidism. It’s managed through medication. 6 years old, boy: He’s in Kindergarten, does piano, does Kumon tutoring. He's in speech therapy at school and privately. He has some resistance to piano. He’s really into Ninja Turtles and Pokemon. He LOVES to do crafts. He’s into making things. He loves drawing! He is color blind, so he might ask you if this is red or blue or green. He’s picked up reading very quickly! He’s reading sight words but he also loves being read to. He does Tee-ball. He loves Lego.

Responsibilities

Pick up the kids in your car at 3:15 PM and then drive them home or to after-school activities like ice skating, tutoring at Kumon, etc! Other than that, it's really just keeping them engaged and occupied and having a lot of fun! You'll also help with some light and easy dinner stuff occasionally. Mom will be home a 6:30 PM to take over and do dinner. Fun and creative people have excelled in this role before and the family loves babysitters!

This position is in Closter, Bergen County, NJ (20 minutes from George Washington Bridge, close to UWS & Harlem. 30 minute to 45 minutes to Terrytown, over the Tapanzee, lower Westchester).
