FULL-TIME: One 4-year-old girl in Williamsburg

Overview

Calling all warm, engaging, education-focused nannies! Looking to spend your days doing cooking projects, imaginative play, and art projects? Do you love to get outside and encourage physical activity, including scootering and bike rides? Are you all about engagement, engagement, engagement? We've been working with this family for a number of years and we absolutely adore them! They're looking for new heavy part-time or full-time nanny to join their family and provide support for their 4 year-old girl after school, helping her do fun projects, get outside, and have some fun! It's $30 to $35/hour plus benefits. They're looking for somebody to start ideally on May 10th (or sooner!), however the first priority is a good fit so they can be flexible for the right candidate. Apply today!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You are active! They have a lot of stairs in their home and you'll be up and down a lot. This family has done so well with their previous Smart Sitters! They've all been flexible, and adaptable and people who really connect with their kiddo. That's huge to them. They're also looking for a clear demonstration that this is what you love to do! You're excited to be a nanny. You are are curious and have a focus on engagement. If you're musically inclined, that would be wonderful. Mom has a piano, and she'd love for you to use it with their daughter. Or another instrument. Dad says he'd rather have a teacher than a babysitter. That's how he thinks about it! Not somebody who will teach academics (she's getting that in school) but somebody who can make all things teachable and fun. This family speaks German, so if you do too, they'd love that! But it's not at all required.

Schedule

The current base schedule is: Monday through Thursday: 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM Friday: 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM *Plus two later nights per week, to get to ~34 hours/week guaranteed. However, if you need 40 hours/week, they will help find more hours! The family also needs help during days that their daughter is off from school, and during school breaks, so taking a look at school holidays and planning to work those will be part of the hiring process.

About the Children

Girl, 4 years old (turning 5 in July!): She's wonderful. Her most important trait is that she's very curious. She likes the things she does well and doesn't like the things she doesn't do well (like all of us!). She gravitates towards books, music, and art. Encouraging her to try and practice new things would be great! Pushing her on physical activities but with patience and love (it will take some convincing!). Her natural inclination is to try something once and then say, "it's too hard, let’s put this away for now”. So encouraging her is essential. She loves to be read, too, she is very spongy. If you give something to her, she'll soak it up. She's thinking a lot about friends. Who are her friends, who are not. They'd love help encouraging and facilitating more friendships and play dates!

Responsibilities

Your primary focus will be picking up the girl from school and making her your number one priority! When not engaging with her, like when she's napping / quiet time, you will also assist with food prep (lunch, snacks, and dinners on long days) and grocery shopping. The family likes to eat healthy, so someone who knows how to cook/shop with a health-conscious mind is a huge plus! They also need assistance with household tasks related to their little one (doing her laundry, cleaning up, organizing her things, etc.). If you're looking for a fuller, 40-hour schedule, more would be included. The family plans to be in Europe or on vacation 2-4 weeks a year and will need help with prep/packing. The nanny may be asked to travel with the family occasionally during vacations.

Additional Information

The family speaks German in the home and to the child, though you do not need to know how to speak German.
