Overview

Would you love to spend the summer hanging out with two cool girls in lower Manhattan? This returning family is looking for a summer sitter June 24th through June 28th, July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and July 15th through August 16th. It will mostly be M/T/W from 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM but some days, they'd love a person to do fuller days, taking the girls to do fun stuff and hanging out. You'll always have advanced notice. If you're looking for an awesome summer position in lower Manhattan, hanging out after camp and doing fun activities, this position is for you! It's $30/hour (paid by the family directly_ and for the right fit, if it works with your schedule, can extend into the school year come September.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

This family is looking for a special mix of organized and fun! Somebody experienced with being a nanny and know what the job entails (tidying up, staying on top of what they need, meal prep, etc) and connecting with the girls on a personal level. The girls do need some direction. This family is open to all nannies in any stage of their career, as long as they can anticipate the needs of the family.

Schedule

The family is looking for a sitter June 24th - June 28th, July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and July 15th through August 16th. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays: 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM Occasional Fridays. Flexibility to work longer day when the girls aren't in camp is appreciated, with advanced notice!

About the Children

Girl, 10 : Chatty and talkative! She likes a routine and works hard at school. She can be persnickity. For example, she’s a picky eater. She eats steak, spinach, pizza. That's about it. Mom wouldn't mind if that was expanded, but only if you can find creative ways to do it! She's very bright and likes to play board games and likes to be on her computer, doing coding. Things like that. She’s used to Mom holding her hand when they cross the street, but she’s getting a little more independent. She had some gross motor skills delay as a toddler, which you may see come out in various actions. Girl, 14: Classic Teenager. She'll be in her room a lot and might be harder to connect to. She loves to talk on the phone. She’s likes having people in the house though, so will be very warm with you. She’s very into clothes and make-up. She’s a thoughtful kid and loves to observe the dynamics of the situation. She’s a little quieter at first, unlike her sister, and a deep thinker but she will warm up. She's pretty self sufficient. She's also very good about doing her homework! These girls do not react well to authoritarian personalities, so you'll do best developing relationships with them and helping guide them! Both girls are also dyslexic.

Responsibilities

Most of the position will revolve around the 10 year-old-girl, but the 14-year-old will home some too and will want to get to know you! The 10-year-old will be theater camp during the summer, so actors and theater folks, this would be a great fit! The 14-year-old will be at Chelsea Piers and some pick-ups there will be helpful. Even though it's about having fun with the girls, the typical aspects of any nanny position apply here - keeping their schedules organized, staying ahead, making sure they have what they need, and coming prepared with snacks, as well as keeping things tidy, meal prep, and errands here and there!
