LIGHT PART-TIME NANNY: 3 kids in BK Heights!
Overview
This busy and fun Brooklyn Smart Family is looking for an organized light-part time nanny for their 3 kids! Both parents are very busy professionals; they have a full-time nanny, but with three kids, they're looking for someone to help her keep everything running smoothly. They have two girls, ages 13 and 11, and one boy, age 5. They also have a dog! You'll be with one or two kids the majority of the time, but should feel comfortable being with all three because it does happen on occasion. They're looking for someone who is comfortable staying a bit late on occasion, and bonus if you can come in for a full day when there's a school holiday or if a kid is mildly sick. Does this sound like a great job for you? Apply today! It's $30 to $35/hour. The family is happy to guarantee 7.5 hours per week.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
You're organized and are ready to help where needed. You love the idea of being mentor and friend for a few hours per week to three awesome kids! They are a bi-racial family and what Mom calls "gender easy", meaning all kids identify with their assigned gender but they do allow them to explore different gender expressions (the 5-year-old boy likes to play with make-up, for example) so being comfortable to facilitate conversations, and holding space for them to express themselves in all things, is key and very important. In the past, they've had sitters who acted as a mentor to the kids and they would love to find another a trusted confidante and role model, especially to the older girls (but through your own style, of course!).
Schedule
Tuesdays 3:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Wednesdays, 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. Flexibility for additional week days or some weekend days is very appreciated.
About the Children
Girl, 13: She's blossoming into a beautiful person. She’s devoted to her schoolwork! She finishes her assignments and does well. She’s super sporty, and is playing travel volleyball! She’s not super competitive, but that’s not what draws her to sports anyway. She plays cello and she plays piano - she needs more emotional support around those ventures. She has a little phone and is allowed to walk around the Heights with her friends without an adult present. Very sweet. Family oriented. Girl, 11: She's in show choir and they rehearse all around the city. Goes to Therapy on Tuesdays. She's deeply sensitive. Can run a little anxious. She experiences things very deeply. Bright personality. Currently, she's experimenting with her clothes, makeup, and hair! You'll be there to support her in these experiments. She can have GI challenges and they all support her when her stomach hurts. You won’t need to bug her about homework, she does it on her own. She loves acting and is starring in her class play soon, so she'll be busy with rehearsals! Boy, 5: They call him "the baby"! He's athletic and likes to ride his bike. He loves long conversations, and is very affectionate. He loves building things--with legos, with cardboard boxes, with anything. He is also really into learning about wildlife and play acting wildlife scenes with his stuffed animals.
Responsibilities
You'll arrive for school pick-up and help with who needs to go where each afternoon. You'll take one or two children to after school activities and ensure that homework is done! They have another nanny, so you'll be working on a team. General flexibility to tackle each day and pitch in where it's needed is definitely part of this job. Love dogs and craving some dog time? Perfect! It's possible that you might take the dog out for a stroll, around dinner time. Since both parents have really busy schedules, they're really looking for someone dependable.
