FULL TIME NANNY: 1 toddler and a sweet baby on the way in Prospect Heights!

Overview

Are you a born toddler and baby whisperer? Do you pride yourself on being really flexible with the parents you work with, and can follow their lead when needed? Do you have experience with newborns? This delightful new SmartFamily would love to speak with you! They are looking for a new full-time nanny for their growing family. They have a sweet 2 year old girl, and a little baby boy on the way! He's due in January, but with so many new changes coming for their oldest (not only a new brother, but a new nanny, AND she just started school), they'd love to find someone before then, so that by the time the baby comes, you're already her trusted friend! It's $30 to $35/hour and the family is happy to guarantee 44 hours/week, with 4 hours of overtime included.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You're super experienced with younger kids (and you have newborn experience). You're very flexible and can be a partner, a true teammate for Mom and Dad, rather than someone who is coming in and telling them how to change things up. Of course, they'll welcome your opinion, but since they're no longer first-time parents, they're not looking for the same level of guidance and instruction that many first-time parents do. They'd instead love to find someone who is really adaptable and openminded. Because you'll be around their newborn, it's imperative that their nanny is Covid vaccinated and boosted, willing to get this year's flu shot, and is updated on their TDAP.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Fridays 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

About the Children

Girl, 2: This little gal is active, curious, and loves to read books. Overall, she’s pretty outgoing, and likes meeting new people (but can be a clingy little one when she's warming up to them). She only just started part-time mornings in preschool, and the transition has been a little tough, she's had some separation anxiety. However, she's taken well to most babysitters in the past, and clicks well with the current nanny. The playground is her favorite place to go, she loves her scooter, and loves music. Baby Boy due in January: You'll get to be there to discover his little personality as he grows!

Responsibilities

Before the baby comes, and they're still a one-kid household, most days you'll start the day with getting some child-related household tasks done while their toddler is in school. She goes 8:30 to 11:30, Monday through Thursday. Examples might include tidying up from the morning, getting the breakfast dishes done, doing a load of her laundry, etc. Once the baby is born, the parents will take turns on parental leave, so they'll be mostly fully on baby duty, but you'll provide the parents a short break in the morning while the older sister's in school. School pick-up is at 11:30, and at that time you'll go get her and start the second part of your day together. The parents feel very strongly about no screen time for their kids, so they're looking for a nanny who genuinely loves to engage with the kiddos, and plan fun, enriching activities for you to do together. Their toddler loves the playground and riding her scooter so outdoor activities are very welcome! She would also love to read books with you, and perhaps go on an adventure. Arts and crafts activities, and really any fun activities to expand her little mind are also great! Music is also something she loves, so you'll likely spend some time singing songs or having a little dance party. You'll of course also provide her with all the healthy meals and snacks she needs throughout the day. While they don't plan to travel a whole lot in the next year or two, they'd like to find a nanny who is flexible to travel later down the line. The parents' parental leave will likely get them through the summer. Once it's up, you'll switch over to caring primarily for the baby for most of the day, as they plan to have their toddler in all-day school next year.
