PART-TIME: After-School with two girls, 6 & 8, in Union Square

Overview

This family in Union Square is seeking a part-time, after-school nanny for their two girls, aged 6 and 8. You'll be in charge of pick-up, homework, taking them to and from activities, dinner and helping with shower and the bedtime routine. You'll typically only be with one, but occasionally you'll be with both, working in tandem with Mom. The family has a full-time driver, but will prioritize candidates that can drive and feel comfortable driving their car, as well somebody who has a college degree. Light housekeeping is also required, such as tidying up after meals and helping the girls maintain a clean and organized space (no deep cleaning). The rate is $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience. They're looking, ideally, for a college education and ability to drive their car in Manhattan. They're prioritizing fit above all else so if you're right for the role, they can potentially meet you with more hours and are happy to make it work. If you're open to traveling with them, that's also a huge plus!

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You have a bright, positive attitude! You can foster a loving, structured, and fun environment and are a mentor to the girls. Ideally, they'd love somebody with a college degree, who has experience working with school-aged children in an in-home or educational setting. You will need to be organized, reliable, and able to build strong relationships with the girls. Experience with driving is a plus, but being comfortable with Uber and city transportation is essential. The ideal candidate will model respectful behavior and excellent manners, helping the girls develop these skills as well. Flexibility is important, as the schedule may occasionally vary depending on the family’s travel and activities!

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 3 PM to 7 PM The family is happy to guarantee 16 hours per week Need more hours? They are happy to hear what you need to make it work! If the fit is right, they have flexibility. Travel is also a huge plus, as is flexibility to work days off from school

About the Children

8-Year-Old Girl: She is a confident leader at home but tends to be shy in public and at school. She is kind and eager to help others, often striving to please. The family is looking for a nanny who can help her build self-confidence, especially in social settings, and support her emotional growth as she navigates her outgoing and shy sides. 6-Year-Old Girl: She is social, outgoing, and often takes the lead in group settings. Other children are naturally drawn to her, and she enjoys leading playtime activities. However, like her older sister, she can experience moments of shyness. The nanny will support her in maintaining her confidence while fostering positive relationships with her peers.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for after-school care and all the after-school things, including pick-up, homework, and helping them stay on task. You'll want to keep the after-school schedule on track, and ideally, you'll driving the family's car to activities and/or ride with the family’s driver to activities occasionally. A key aspect of the role involves building the girls' confidence: supporting the older daughter in becoming more comfortable in public settings, and encouraging the younger daughter to develop her leadership skills. Light housekeeping duties are required, like tidying up after meals, helping the girls keep their spaces clean, and maintaining an organized environment. Additionally, you will prepare simple dinners, oversee their evening routines, including showers, and assist with bedtime.

Additional Information

Both girls receive speech therapy and are progressing well in their development. The family is looking for a nanny who can further support their growth, both academically and socially. The girls are active, curious, and enjoy a variety of activities, from schoolwork to sports and outdoor adventures.
