Overview

This super lovely returning family in Brooklyn is looking for their next nanny! They have two kids, a 7-month-old boy and a 4 year-old-girl. They are looking for an all start nanny that can easily navigate both children; somebody that is engaging, thoughtful, and reliable. Most of the day-in and day-out logistics revolve around taking and picking her up the 4-year-old from school, being with the baby, and helping with household tasks like laundry, organizing, and more. This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to become a full-time Family Assistant, or that would like to build up their resume with baby care! It's $30 to $35/hour plus benefits. You'll need to be a fully vaccinated candidate and onboard for a flu shot each year, or other vaccines as needed.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

This family LOVES the parenting blog "Big Little Feelings" and would love to find somebody that feels aligned with that (Big Little Feelings also has a great Instagram page!). This includes helping their daughter, and eventually Mr. Baby, name their feelings and recognize what they are going through. Their parenting style is more about loving boundaries than top down authority. Beyond that, you are high energy and proactive! You're adept at handling multiples and you'll be super engaged in your role as a nanny - even finding events and activities to go to around town. You’ll be invested and interested in development milestones. Adaptability is key in this role. They're also looking for a nanny that is tech and travel savvy. For example, you feel comfortable booking your own train ticket (they'll reimburse you of course!) and then ordering an Uber while you travel to get you from point A to point B. An excitement around jumping on a train or plane to travel with the family will go a long way! You take a deep interest in the children in your care. You should also be comfortable caring for multiple little ones as the family is hoping to grow! Finally, the family would love a Spanish speaker but it's not required.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week guaranteed, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM each day, with flex to do 50 some weeks. Slightly different schedule each week based on their needs and yours! Position will be paid on the books, no exceptions.

About the Children

7-month-old baby boy: He's a real love and is obsessed with his sister! Girl, 4-years-old: She’s high energy and loves pretend play! She’s very caring and enjoys playing doctor and tending to her baby dolls. She’s currently obsessed with reading books too! She has opinions and knows how to assert them and so does best with loving boundaries and structure. Mom and Dad say using a timer for activities and giving two options works well!

Responsibilities

You’ll arrive in the morning and chat with Mom about the day. You might help the girl started helping with breakfast, getting dressed, and brushing teeth! Once the little girl is ready for the day it’s out the door to school, or staying home with baby while Mom or Dad take her. Making sure you tidy up as you go is important to his family. The responsibilities will likely shift a bit (like light housekeeping and errands for example!) as you continue to work with them.

Additional Information

You must have a valid US passport for travel. The family has one small older dog. There are three flights of stairs in the family home so there’s lots of activity involved! A driver’s license is also required for this position. They are vaccinated against Covid, and other diseases, and looking for the same in a nanny. Flu shot each fall is required.
