PART-TIME: 25 or 30 hours per week w/ an amazing 4 year old boy, UWS!
Overview
This very sweet family just moved to the UWS from Brooklyn and they're looking for a new after-school nanny for their two kids, 4 and 7, though the position primarily focuses on the 4-year-old. You don't want to miss this one! This very sweet 4-year-old makes very close connections with his caregivers and is an old soul. You will adore spending time with him. He absolutely LOVES ballet. He takes classes and regularly attends New York City Ballet shows, sitting through entire productions with eyes wide! He and his sister both have very busy extracurricular schedules and you'll really be helping this family out by being a companion to him in the after-school hours. This position is all about FIT! So they can be flexible for the right person. One big priority is the ability to work in this position through June at least, but ideally longer. He has just changed neighborhoods, and schools and is now changing caregivers, so if there is a chance you would need to leave after 3 or 6 months, please do not apply. The schedule can be Monday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday afternoons, for 25 or 30 hours/week guaranteed. Apply today! They're looking to get started ASAP.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
They're looking for somebody who really, really enjoys hanging out with this little guy (which shouldn't be too hard to find!). He care deeply about his caregivers and is a sensitive and creative soul. One big priority is the ability to work in this position through June at least, but ideally longer. He has just changed neighborhoods, and schools and is now changing caregivers, so if there is a chance you would need to leave after 3 or 6 months, please do not apply. Beyond that, somebody who is comfortable taking him on the subway, will clean up after activities and play time, and really jump in wherever, is appreciated! They want to meet all the fun and creative candidates!
Schedule
The family has a lot of flexibility on hours, and in particular, end times. They are most focused on finding a solid long-term fit for their little guy. Below is a proposed schedule, but they could flex up on the ending of each day. The most important thing is consistent care in the after-school hours. Monday: 1:15 PM to 7:30 PM/8:00 PM Tuesday: 2:15 PM to 7:30 PM/8:00 PM Wed: 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM/8:00 PM Thursday and Friday: 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM/8:00 PM You can work either Monday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday. They are happy to guarantee either 25 or 30 hours/week.
About the Children
Boy, 4 years old: He's not you typical 4 year old. He’s very gentle, he has no interest in trucks or anything like that. Instead he leans very creative and artsy! He goes to ballet and he loves music and art projects. He was born with Hypotonia. He’s doing well now, and you wouldn't know, he’s done a lot of work. He’s still in PT once per week, but he does go to ballet and music classes once a week too! Everyone says he's an old soul.
Responsibilities
You'll pick up the 4-year-old from his school and use the subway to take. him to activities. Since he's in Pre-K right now, the family is working with him on his Kindergarten testing, and they'll ask that you spend 30 minutes a day with him practicing for that. You'll do dinner with him and get the evening routine started before Mom and Dad take over. They'd love to find somebody who can jump in once or twice a week to do laundry for both the 7 year old and 4 year old. It's sooo helpful for them! However the first priority each day is engagement, and they understand that. Aside from that, you'll tidy up after playing, which also really, really helps Mom out, so she's not cleaning up all the toys you played with after her busy day! Better yet, they'd love somebody to teach him to clean up his room!
Additional Information
There may be one unpaid week between now and June, but this is still TBD and can be discussed. Please have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role. Experience with this age group is also very important.
