FULL-TIME: Five year-old twins on the UES!
Overview
Hi SmartSitters! This lovely new Smart Family is saying goodbye to their long-time nanny, and looking for an amazing Smart Sitter to jump in and join their team. They have four kids, but you will be hanging out with their two youngest– twins turning five next week! They are incredibly sweet and love each other very much. You’ll be working with other caregivers and household staff, so the ability to work on a team, take initiative, and jump right in is key for this family. Your role will look like arriving at noon and completing light household duties related to the kiddos (laundry, meal-prep, tidying, errands). Then, it’s heading to school for pickup and doing the afterschool routine, dinner, and bedtime. The family is looking for someone who will be comfortable traveling with them–both within New York state and beyond! They would love to find a dynamic caregiver who is comfortable setting loving boundaries and redirecting when needed. Someone with a background in early childhood education and speech development would be a dream for this duo. Mom and dad want to begin interviews ASAP, so apply today! Rate is $30-$35 DOE, and the family can guarantee 40 hours a week. They will also offer PTO, sick time, and a MetroCard. Applicants may be considered above $35/hr if they have a degree in early childhood education, speech pathology, or prior experience working in staffed households.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Lots of experience, trusting your impulses, and jumping right in with this family is important. Ability to be a team player with other caregivers and experience working in fully staffed households will be helpful. These sweet twins will do well with someone active–someone who can keep up with all of their big, five year-old energy and then center and ground them when the time comes to wind down. Providing structure and loving boundaries will go a long way with these two. Mom and dad would love to find someone who has experience in early childhood education or speech development.
Schedule
Monday to Friday 12 PM to 8 PM Willingness to travel is important to this family!
About the Children
Boy, 5: This little guy adores his sister and their friends at school. He is already super active–he loves swimming, rock climbing, and skiing. He’s also a big music fan (country music especially!) and will often dance along to his favorite tunes. And of course, like many five year-olds, he gets excited about all things lego, train, and magna-tile related. He’ll often team up with his big brother to build some really amazing, imaginative things! Girl, 5: She is a super sweet and empathetic little one. She loves her brother and cares very much for everyone in her life–whether that’s her family, neighbor’s pets, or characters in her favorite books! Like her brother, she loves school and has a lot of friends in her class!
Responsibilities
Monday through Thursday, the day begins with kid-related tasks at 12 pm. This could look like kid-laundry, dinner shopping and meal prep, or organizing toys and clothes. Pickup is at 2:30 directly across Central Park from their home, and then you hop right into the after-school routine. Around 5:30, you’ll make sure the kids are home for dinner, wind-down time, bath and bed. At 8, your day is done! Fridays look very much the same, except that the kids will have a half day at school, so pickup is at 12:15.
