UPDATED FULL-TIME, SHORT-TERM: Three kiddos (2, 2, and 4) in Maplewood, NJ

Overview

This lovely, lovely family came to us through one of our favorite partner agencies. They adore their long-time nanny, who will be taking a vacation late January and early February. They are looking for a fun, laid-back, adaptable team player who will partner with mom and dad to wrangle these three active little ones. And it truly is a team effort with this family! There’s lots of collaboration with mom and dad to get everyone where they need to be. You will work primarily with the twins, taking them to classes in the morning with mom, then prepping their lunch, hanging with them in the afternoon, and then getting dinner ready for all three kids. Meal prep, kid laundry, and keeping things tidy is a super helpful part of the daily routine–along with staying active, creative, engaged, and keeping everyone safe! Driving is not required, though may be helpful for transport the job everyday. Comfort with large dogs is a must. If you’re an NJ-based sitter, this is an amazing opportunity to form a connection with a really wonderful, local family. They’d love to begin interviews immediately, so apply today! The family is offering $35-40/hour for 50 hours per week, plus time and a half for hours over 40. They will provide a travel stipend for candidates who live in NYC, and would be commuting via public transit.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Mom and dad have a great dynamic with their current nanny, who has been with them for over two years. It’s all about flexibility, adaptability, and collaboration with this family. Someone used to working with stay-at-home parents, or in group settings would be ideal. Someone who can take initiative, communicate clearly, and have lots of fun in the job will do great. Experience with multiples is required, and mom and dad would love someone with a background in education–though it’s definitely not a requirement.

Schedule

Monday-Friday: 8 am to 6 pm The position begins Monday, January 20th-Monday, February 3rd (possible flexibility to trial earlier, or stay a day or two into the week of 2/7)

About the Children

Boy, 2: These two year olds are twins, but aside from being VERY active little guys, they could not be more different! They also just turned two this past weekend. This one is a little firecracker, definitely has some big feelings but resets and re-regulates really quickly. Loves cuddles and story time. A bit of a picky eater, but teamwork helps him get all the nutrients he needs. Boy, 2: Also super active! Big truck and train guy. GREAT eater. Loves running around with his brother! A high energy nanny with a good eye for safety will do great in this role. Girl, 4: This little gal loves school, is a big extrovert and has LOTS of opinions. She loves being outside–her school is nature-oritented–and absolutely loves going to the park. She also recently has become really obsessed with her two little brothers, which is super sweet to see!

Responsibilities

You will arrive and help everyone get settled in the morning routine. The four-year-old is in school 9-1, so after mom or dad takes her you will be hanging out with mom and the twins! Typically, you’ll all drive to classes, playdates, music or story time at the library together. When it’s time for lunch, you will be in charge of getting the two little ones fed. The four-year-old has activities most days after school, which mom or dad handle. So in the afternoons your job will mostly be with the twins, keeping them active, safe, and engaged! Come evening, you’ll prep dinner for all three kids, and then at 6, you’re off! Some light tidying of kid-related clutter, and doing kid-laundry would be a huge help to mom and dad in this role.
