FULL-TIME: One newborn in Chelsea

Overview

This incredibly kind new Smart Family is expecting their first baby in early January, and we are so excited to support them at the beginning of their childcare journey. They are looking for someone kind, grounded, knowledgeable, and highly experienced to be their teammate in raising this little one. Mom is originally from China, so a Mandarin speaker would be wonderful but is not required. They’re looking for a nanny that is also open to cross-cultural ways of childrearing and/or that has experience doing so (for example, if you’re originally from another country!) The position will begin in mid-February, at which point you will be partnering heavily with mom and their newborn care specialist as a rotating team of caregivers for the newborn. By the end of April, mom will be going back to work, and you’ll be on your own with the little one. Extensive newborn care experience (with babies under 4 months old) is a must, as is proof of TDAP in the past ten years, an up to date Covid Vaccine, and Flu shot and Infant CPR. They would love someone who comes with a grounded approach to newborn care, particularly that is based in research. The family is looking to begin interviews immediately, and then trials in mid-January, after the baby has arrived. Apply today! The family is offering $30-35/hour for 40 hours per week, PTO, possible healthcare stipend for candidates that have a marketplace plan, sick time and a metrocard.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Someone highly experienced and used to working in team settings will do great in this position. If you come to your work having done a lot of research on which newborn care practices you believe in and why, if you stay up to date on the latest trends in baby-rearing, you will be a wonderful fit. Mom and dad value research and are constantly learning and information-gathering themselves. Someone with a strong cooking practice that is health-conscious would also be appreciated. A Mandarin-speaker would be great, but mom and dad would also be excited about fluency in another non-English language. Above all, mom and dad are hoping to find someone kind, communicative, and highly responsible that can make them feel safe and at ease as they bring this new human into the world.

Schedule

Monday-Friday: 9 am to 5 pm The position will begin in mid-February, with trials happening throughout January. The family is happy to guarantee 40 hours/week.

About the Children

Girl, newborn: personality, tbd! She’s arriving in early January, but it will be all hands on deck with newborn care duties as soon as she does.

Responsibilities

The position will begin in mid-February, at which point you’ll partner with mom and their newborn care specialist (NCS) to get this little girl acclimated to the world. The position will be a heavy collaboration with both parents and the NCS at first, so the ability to work on a team and communicate clearly is a must. Baby tasks will be shared through the end of April, at which point mom will go back to work and you’ll be on your own with the little one. Health conscious meal prep would be highly appreciated, as would be tidying and baby-related tasks: laundry, maybe grocery runs in the first month or so.
