UPDATED RATE AND SCHEDULE - FULL-TIME Family Assistant for three sweet kiddos in Ridgewood, NJ (8 months, 3, and 5)

Overview

This wonderful new Smart Family is looking for their first ever nanny to join their team. Mom and Dad are true parent-superheroes, wrangling these three high energy kiddos, and simply adore their sweet family of five. They’ve decided it’s time to make the leap into working with a caregiver and family assistant full-time, and are looking for the perfect person to join their little unit. They’re hoping to find someone responsible, pro-active, and safety-conscious, who can also keep up with three bundles of energy (particularly the 5.5 year old, who has an ADHD diagnosis). Someone with multiples and baby experience is a must. Experience collaborating with parents on a team is very helpful as well, as you will be working closely with mom throughout the day. The role will be a great mix of direct childcare and family assistant work, ie in the morning you’ll help get the kiddos off to school, then you’ll do some family assistant work for mom—ie, grocery runs, meal prep, kid laundry, tidying, other errands etc—before school pickup at 2 pm. You’ll likely have downtime most days between kid hours, but should consider yourself “on-call” during these guaranteed (paid, of course) working hours. They’d also love someone who has flexibility to stay later some days, and is willing to travel with them. Ability to drive and a clean driving record are required. Mom and dad describe their parenting style as a constant learning process that is rooted in humility and patience. Someone aligned with these values who can be a kind communicator and caregiver will do wonderfully in this role.
The family is offering $35/hour and can guarantee 37.5 hours per week. The family is willing to be flexible on rate (up to $40/hour) if you have significant experience in family assistant roles, and with children diagnosis with ADHD diagnoses. They will also offer paid sick time, PTO, and a healthcare stipend.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Mom and dad want a real team player to join their sweet family. Their number one priority is finding someone who fits really well with both them and the kids. A laid-back, patient, kind and clear communicator will do great--someone who is highly experienced, responsible, and pro-active. The ability to see what needs to be done and do it without having to be asked is essential—with three kids to look after, mom can’t spend lots of time delegating tasks. Mom and dad would love someone with experience working with kiddos in this age group who have ADHD-diagnoses--someone who can help their kiddos regulate, then redirect them and set boundaries in a loving way. A person who can prep dinner, then run outside for a game of the grass is lava or tag, is the combo that will shine in this role. Requirements: license and clean driving record, experience with babies and multiples. This is a really sweet, loving, kind family, and we’re really excited for the Smart Sitters who will get to meet them!

Schedule

Monday - Friday 11:30 A.M. - 7 P.M. The family will guarantee 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility for occasional hours shifts (ie, potentially coming in to help in the mornings some days, or staying later for some date nights) is very helpful. The family is open to discussing ideal schedule with the right fit.

About the Children

Boy, 8 months: the easiest baby in the world, according to mom and dad! This little guy is in daycare a few hours a day, but when he isn’t he is simply a happy, healthy, cuddly, loving little guy. Is very attached to mom but warms up to new people pretty quickly.

Girl, 3: a sweet, chatty, high-energy extrovert! She is extremely curious and bright, and loves to be involved in whatever the grownups are doing. She loves her brothers—all three siblings get along really well! She’s really great at self-directed play and keeping herself entertained.
Boy, 5.5: This little guy is only five and a half, but is in the 134% percentile in height and weight! He’s built like an athlete, mom and dad say. He definitely requires the most hands-on attention. He has an ADHD diagnoses and needs someone who can help him regulate, as well as get all of his energy out. He is a ton of fun, and will do great with someone who has ADHD-experience, and will be happy to run all of his energy out in the park, then help him focus in and settle down for afternoon activities (he’s in a Ninja class he loves!) and routines.

Responsibilities

Your day will begin by arriving at 11:30 to help mom with all family assistant related tasks! These could look like: doing grocery runs, loading and unloading the dishwasher, meal prepping, doing and organizing kid laundry, tidying kids' rooms, other errands etc. They have a housekeeper so you will never be asked to do any deep cleaning. School pickup is at 2 pm, at which point you’ll help with afterschool activity routines, playdates, or just generally getting the kids home and making sure everyone is fed, happy, and safe. Someone highly active who can help them get all their energy out, then re-directly smoothly transitioning from one activity to the next will be wonderful. In the late afternoon, you'll prep dinner and help get everyone settled, before helping all three kids wind down before bed. Occasional flexibility to shift hours to come in earlier, or stay later for a date night etc, would be great (this would happen with lots of notice, and in conversation with mom and dad). The family would also love someone who is open to traveling with them, should that come up.
