Overview

This fun and very busy family is looking for a new part-time nanny to help keep their two tween girls on task and on schedule! The girls are 9 and 11 and Mom and Dad are divorced, but co-parenting closely. This position is focused mainly at Mom’s house, though occasionally you may go to Dad’s. They have a full-time nanny and a full-time household manager, who you’ll be on a team with. They’re looking for an exceptional team player who has experience working with tweens that, at times, struggle with boundaries. This position will be best for candidates that are called to work with tweens and teens, and that are dedicated to working with children. Those that have worked in educational fields or as behavioral management specialists will be a good fit. The Ideal Sitter for this Job

This family is looking for somebody who is a real team player! You’ll be working in a very busy and fully staffed home and will be very much part of a team. That also means surprises are always right around the corner! So the ability to think on your feet and always prioritize what is best for the girls is essential. They’re looking for a good communicator and somebody who understands different communication styles - you’ll be communicating at different points with their full-time nanny, their household manager, and Mom, so a savvy intuitiveness around how and what you communicate is essential. Beyond that they’re looking for somebody who can be a firm but fun leader, since these tweens do struggle with boundaries. Somebody who can model good conduct and citizenship is very important. They’d love to find somebody who has experience keeping children on task, especially when it comes to chores and homework.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Friday 3 PM to 7 or 8 PM, and at least 4 to 5 hours on the weekend TBD for a 20 hour week/guarantee. If you need up to 30 hours/week to make this position work for you, just let us know.

About the Children

Girl, 11: Tenacious, bright, and a true force! She is learning to self regulate. She loves to dance and is a girly girl. Girl, 9: She can be emotional but has an amazing sense of humor. Mom describes her as a true vaudeville ham. She is very into ice skating!

Responsibilities

You’ll work in tandem with their full-time nanny to tackle the afternoon routine. This will include taking the girls to their respective activities, helping them stay on task and on schedule. They go to an academically rigorous school so there is a lot of homework, however they do have tutors who help. On the weekends, you’ll be focused on taking them to activities as well, and will work a bit more autonomously.

Additional Information

The family spends a lot of summer in the Hamptons, and this can be a conversation around what you feel comfortable with and do not feel comfortable with. They are focused on fit above all else.
