Overview

We adore this warm, laid back, and down to earth international family in DUMBO, Brooklyn! Dad is French and Mom is Bulgarian. They have three kids, 10, and 8, and a newborn baby girl, currently 3 months old. The older kids have a Smart Sitter in the afternoons, so this position is focused primarily on the baby, though they would love for you to engage and still get to know the other two children, and sometimes do tasks related to all three kids as well (laundry, for example). They're looking for a true team player that is warm, creative, kind and laid back! This is their third child, so you'll be plugging into their established patterns and schedule. They are a no screens household and do not have computers in the house, for example. They'd love to meet candidates that have worked with infants for at least 3 to 4 years and international candidates, or candidates that have lived abroad, or even that speak French or Bulgarian, would be a huge plus (but not a deal breaker). It's $30 to $35/hour gross, plus benefits. They're looking to trial candidates in February and are aiming for a March start date.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Somebody who has a newborn reference and has worked with babies generally for at least 3 to 5 years. Somebody who would also like to engage their children when they're home! Not necessarily caring for them (they have a sitter) but that will still take an interest and get to know them. Somebody flexible and easy going. They would love to meet candidates that speak French but that's not a deal breaker. If you've lived abroad and have an international word view, that would be great for their family! Their older kids are into outside activities and things like whittling, Dungeons and Dragons and all kinds of creative and imaginative activities.

Schedule

Monday through Friday 8/9 AM to 5/ 6 PM. *Exact hours are still TBD, but will be 40 or 50 hours per week, either 8 AM to 5 PM, or 9 AM to 5 PM.

About the Children

3 months old, girl: She has already sleep trained herself. She tells you when she wants to sleep, and she's already on a schedule. She sleeps in her bed, about 45 to 50 minutes. That's her natural rhythm!

Responsibilities

All the baby things! But they're also looking for a team player, somebody who is happy to pitch in where it's needed. There will be a lot of naps during the day, so when those occur, helping to keep the house tidy, doing kids' laundry, and whatever else is needed to keep things running smoothy will be appreciated. Beyond that, it's all the baby things - changing the baby, going on walks, taking baby to baby classes (they'd like the baby to go to swim classes), and cleaning bottles cleaned and sanitized. Being committed to the baby's development is important too!

Additional Information

Driving and Swimming would be big pluses but are not required! Dad works from home. They have an after-school sitter for the two older children, who will be in the mix most days as well.
