PART-TIME NANNY: 2 young kids in Forest Hills, Queens!

Overview

This new Smart Family in Forest Hills, Queens is looking for an experienced, warm, and engaging part-time nanny for their two little ones twice a week! Starting in mid-March, this new nanny will be working full days on Mondays and Wednesdays while Mom is at work as a college professor. The majority of the day will be spent with their baby boy, who will be 7 months in March, giving him everything that he needs, and helping him every step of the way to thrive in his development. In the afternoon, you'll be with his 4-year-old sister as well. She's super artistic, and would love for you draw with her, teach her a new song to sing, or make pretend cookies out of Play Doh! It's $30 to $35/hour gross, and the family is happy to offer 20 hours/week guaranteed.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

You have experience with both age groups, and you are super energetic and engaging! With the baby boy, you're excited to help him get to his next developmental stage, and lovingly push him to thrive in his development. You love talking to and singing to the babies in your care, and showing them all the world around them so they can absorb it all. With the older sister, you love participating in age-appropriate play and engaging her imagination. You're also creative, and might have arts and crafts activities ready to go for her after school, like making Valentine's, or have her favorite music cued up for a dance party. You also work well as a partner with a work-from-home parent!

Schedule

Monday and Wednesday Around 7:30AM - 5:30PM

About the Children

Boy, 5 months (7 in march): Pretty typical baby. He has mild hearing loss in one ear. It's not something you need to be an expert in, but be mindful of! Doesn't have a super set schedule; in the mornings he eats first at 8:00 AM, then they try to do every 4 hours from there or so, but they follow his cues. Right now, he's of course still nursing and taking bottles, but by the time you start they're hoping to start introducing some soft solids. Girl, 4: In pre-k! She’ll be in her shell when she first meets you, it takes a minute for her to warm up to new people. When she does, she’s a bundle of energy! She loves Elephant and Piggy, playing with Play Doh and drawing. Loves art and music too!

Responsibilities

You'll spend most of your day with baby boy, and then his sister as well from around 3 PM onward. You'll be giving him everything he needs, getting him down for naps, facilitating feedings and diaper changes and play time. The parents would love to find someone really playful and knowledgable about his development to help him thrive as much as possible. They live in an elevator building, so you won't need to worry about hauling the stroller, but someone active will still be ideal for this role. While he's napping, you'll take care of child-related household tasks, such as sanitizing bottles, throwing in kid laundry, tidying their spaces, and organizing their toys. Around 3:00, Dad will go and get the 4 year old girl from school, and you'll spend the rest of the afternoon with both children. They're looking for someone to be super playful with both kiddos!
