Overview

We have a wonderful new Smart Family who has just joined our network, looking for an amazing baby-expert to hang out with their sweet six month old two days a week. Mom is a preschool teacher (and former long-time nanny!) who isn’t going back to work just yet, but she is super sweet and understanding of what it’s like to be in the caregiver’s shoes. The family is hoping to get their little one used to a new person (she’s mostly been with mom, dad and grandparents so far!), and give mom a few hours of solo time each week. They would love someone familiar with all the developmental milestones of this age group. The family lives very close to the PATH line, so commuting from the city will be a breeze–and all commuting costs for both days of work will be covered by the family. They’re really looking to add a teammate to their little family, someone they can build a long-lasting bond with, who would be flexible to hop in for extra hours now and then (like date night!) when needed. If you’re looking for a lovely, light part-time gig with a fast-growing little one, apply today! The family is offering $30-$35/hour for 10 hours per week guaranteed ($300-$350/week). They can go down to an 8 hour guarantee if that is better for the caregiver. They will also cover all commuting costs for both days of work, for those traveling by public transit.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Mom and dad would love someone with tons of baby experience, who is communicative, fun and flexible. They’re really looking to add a teammate to their little unit here. They’re open to caregivers balancing other busy schedules…if you’re a grad student, for example, apply today! Someone who knows a lot about development at these stages would be great. Updated Covid booster, flu shot, TDAP, and CPR must be up to date.

Schedule

The family is very flexible for the right fit. Ideally, one shift per week would be Mondays 12-4 or 12-5. The other shift (either four or five hours) is of the caregiver's choosing. The family will guarantee 10 hours / week. They can also guarantee eight hours per week, if that is preferable for the caregiver's needs and schedule. Flexibility to do date nights etc (with notice!) would be great.

About the Children

Girl, 6 months: She is already the most out-going little gal! She loves eye-contact, loves people, and loves looking at the world from her stroller on walks. She’s just getting into toys, and is already sitting up and on the move. She is a great sleeper and eater (still working with bottles, mom and dad will handle the solids-transition).

Responsibilities

Your job will be all things baby all the time! Truly just a sweet eight hours a week of hangout time with this little one. Keeping her on her feeding schedule, bringing her out in the world, and encouraging those growth milestones. If you’d be willing to do light baby-related tidying and bottle cleaning while she naps, that’s great! But if you’re with her during waking hours than having your focus on her is the goal.
