PART-TIME: Five-month-old girl in Astoria!

Overview

We have a wonderful Smart Family new to our network, looking for an amazing caregiver for their five-month-old three days per week. Mom is an emergency vet (animal lovers step up!) who will be going back to work at the end of March. Dad will be working from home sometimes while the caregiver is present, but the family has a split-level house so there is plenty of space to spread out. Their sweet little gal is an easy-going baby, very easily soothed, who will be transitioning to bottles by the time the caregiver begins in March. They’re looking for someone to guide their little one through the routines of the day, support her through developmental milestones, and prioritize safety above all else. This is their first time working with a caregiver, so someone with lots of experience with the age group, partnering with first-time parents, would be wonderful. Help with light baby-related tasks during nap time (bottle sanitizing, baby laundry, tidying) would be wonderful. They also have two very sweet dogs, which the caregiver won’t need to care for at all, other than maybe the occasional pet and cuddle! A note on schedule: Mom’s schedule at the emergency vet clinic rotates every few months. This means, the three days / week they need care will rotate as well. However, the caregiver will have ample notice ahead of time (minimum one month in advance) to plan. The family is offering $30-$35/hour gross for a guaranteed 20 hours per week. PTO, Sick Time, Metro Card.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Mom and dad would love someone with tons of baby experience, who is communicative, kind, and prioritizes safety. They are first-time parents, so someone with lots of experience with this age group in the home would be wonderful. A caregiver who knows a lot about development at these stages would be great as well. Updated Covid booster, flu shot, TDAP, and CPR must be up to date.

Schedule

Three to four days per week (rotating every few months, based on mom’s rotating work schedule) The hours can be anywhere from: 8am-6pm Minimum guarantee of 20 hours, but it can go up to 30 per week. Flexibility to do additional hours (with notice!) on occasion, for example, for a date night etc, would be great.

About the Children

Girl, 5 months: She is a really sweet, loving, easy baby! She’s a great sleeper, very easily soothed. She loves outside time and cuddles. They’re looking for someone to help support her and help her grow in all things baby-related!

Responsibilities

Your job will be all things baby all the time! Mom and dad are looking for someone to safely guide this little one through her day to day–keeping her on her feeding schedule, nap schedule, getting plenty of outside time, maybe accompanying her to classes etc. Someone willing to help with light baby-related tidying during nap time would be great.
