Overview

Calling all Queens and Long Island Nannies! This is a great heavy part-time opportunity for nanny with a car (though the train is possible!) and who can easily commute to Manhasset, which is on Long Island, but right on the border of Queens. This very warm and welcoming family have two boys, 3 and 14 months. They both work full-time and they've never had a nanny before. They've been lucky in that Grandma has always helped! The boys are fun and high energy and they'd love to meet a nanny that is playful, creative and interested in integrating into their family. It's $30 to $35/hour plus PTO & Sick Time. Ideally, you will be able to reach them by car, as there are not a lot of great public transit options.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

Somebody who enjoys working with active and silly toddler boys is essential! Somebody who is curious about the world will connect well with the 3 year old. Beyond that, somebody who is happy to work with a family that is involved. Sometimes Grandparents will be there, sometimes Mom and Dad will be there. The ability to discern when to step in and step back will go a long way!

Schedule

Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM The family is happy to guarantee 32 hours/week

About the Children

Boy, 3 years old: He's really into numbers and letters and games. goes to school part-time. He likes to look at street signs and figuring out what they means. He likes to gamify different parts of life. For example, he'll watch a movie about volcanoes and then he gets really into volcanoes. He seems to be very into observation. He has a million questions and then a million follow up questions. He'll warm up to you if you want to play with him and he'll never tire of playing with you. If he misses a nap, he can be a little moody. He gets tired a little bit around 4 PM. He'll have a shorter fuse. In other words - he's a toddler!!! But he's very distractable - redirection works great on this guy. Baby, 14 months: Right now he's really into walking. He'll play with toys a little bit but mostly, this guy is excited with his new movement ability. He loves music and he loves sounds. He says Momma and Dadda. Musical toys are his go-to. He's very sweet and he's pretty calm. unless he wants to walk. Then he is going to walk! He has an easy going personality. He wants to do what his brother is doing and he wants to eat the same foods as him too. Dad says he's an old soul. Did we mention that walking has been the best part of his life thus far?

Responsibilities

You'll arrive in the morning and help get everybody prepared for the day. The days will be spent creating fun activities, going outside, going to activities and helping with lunchtime. Tidying up after the boys throughout the day, putting their toys away before you leave, and some light household duties are expected (unloading and loading the dishwasher, meal prep, etc).

Additional Information

Mom works from home full-time and Dad is there three days/week. Grandparents are in and out as well.
