HEAVY PART-TIME: Two Kids, 4 & 8, on the UWS!
Overview
This family of 4 just moved to the UWS from Brooklyn and they're looking for a rock solid companion for their two kids, 4 and 8. They're looking for somebody who can help with household activities when they are not with the children or during down time. Above all else, they're looking for consistency and reliability. This position is primarily with the 4-year-old. He makes very close connections with his caregivers and is an old soul. He and his sister both have very busy extracurricular schedules and you'll really be helping this family out by being a companion to him in the after-school hours. If you live close-ish, they'd really love somebody who can do an hour in the morning for a split schedule! It's $32 to $36/hour plus benefits. Please let us know if you'd need a higher rate for this position (depending on experience). They'd love to meet qualified applicants ASAP!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Somebody reliable, kind, and compassion! That's the trifecta for this position. They're looking for somebody who really, really enjoys hanging out with school aged children. Somebody who is an EXCELLENT communicator and can have very frank and open conversations with Mom. Since this position is primarily with the boy, they're ideally looking for a connection with him. He cares deeply about his caregivers and is a sensitive and creative soul. He has just changed neighborhoods, and schools and is now changing caregivers, so if there is a chance you would need to leave after 3 or 6 months, please do not apply. Beyond that, somebody who is comfortable taking him on the subway, will clean up after activities and play time, and really jump in wherever, is appreciated! They want to meet all the fun, creative, and organized candidates!
Schedule
Monday through Friday 2 PM to 7 PM Plus, for locals to the UWS, one hour in the morning 25 to 30 hours/week guaranteed ** These may shift up or down slightly
About the Children
Boy, 4 years old: He's not you typical 4 year old. He’s very gentle, he has no interest in trucks or anything like that. Instead he leans very creative and artsy! He goes to ballet and he loves music and art projects. He was born with Hypotonia, which is a condition that contributes to low muscle tone. He’s doing well now and he’s done a lot of work. He’s still in physical therapy once per week, but he does go to ballet and music classes once a week too! Everyone says he's an old soul. Girl, 8 years old: She’s a very sweet, kind, mature little girl. She is very academically focused. She’s extremely passionate about chess and spends hours every day on chess, so it takes up a lot of her time. She’s the number 2 rated girl her age in the country (WOW!). She also loves reading, art, and playing with her friends. She loves writing and poetry. She’s a creative, silly, sweet, and an extremely bright little girl. She has suffered from some serious health issues so she needs a few extra precautions and the family is careful about germs.
Responsibilities
Ideally, they'd love to find somebody who lives local-ish and wouldn't mind doing a split schedule, so coming for one hour in the morning to assist with getting the kids ready and school drop off. In the afternoon, you'll arrive and get things prepared for the afternoon before heading to school pick-up. You'll pick up the 4-year-old and use the subway to take him to activities. Since he's in Pre-K right now, the family is working with him on his Kindergarten testing, and they'll ask that you spend 30 minutes a day with him practicing for that. You'll do dinner with him and get the evening routine started before Mom and Dad take over. They're looking for somebody who can jump in once or twice a week to do laundry for both the 7 year old and 4 year old. Aside from that, you'll help with some household tasks, tidy up after playing, and all the typical household activities that can be attended to in downtime.
