PART-TIME NANNY: One awesome girl in Cobble Hill!
Overview
Are you an after-school rockstar who loves building a special bond with one amazing little girl? Would you love hearing all about her competitive dance team (and maybe learning a viral dance together!) or the fantastic art project she made at school? This is the role for you! This new SmartFamily is looking for a really special part-time nanny to be a role model for their 8-year-old little girl. A "cool, responsible, much older sibling" energy is something they think she'll be very excited about. She's super artistic and would love to bond with a nanny who is creative as well. They'd love a long-term commitment and are prioritizing a stellar personality fit. They can be very flexible on the hours for the right person, so if you need more than 20 hours guaranteed per week, please apply anyway and tell us what you're looking for. The family is happy to offer $35+/hour gross plus PTO, Sick Time, and a MetroCard.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The ideal nanny for this position is super sweet, engaging, and warm. They're looking for someone who can be another strong role model in her life, and they're hoping for a great older sibling-type energy: both a fun presence to enjoy spending her afternoons with and a confidant when she needs it. You genuinely love building strong connections with the kids in your care and helping them thrive however you can. Their little girl can be shy at first, and it's ideal to find someone really fun to pull her out of her shell. Someone who backs off when they see she's shy doesn't tend to work well; she needs someone super fun who jumps in to build a relationship and connect on her interests right away.
Schedule
Monday through Friday 3 PM to 7 PM
About the Children
Girl, 8: A super fun-loving gal. On a competitive dance team in Brooklyn - it's not cutthroat though, just fun! She loves art and music too. Shy at first, kinda quiet, but when she warms up, you’ll be the best of friends. When she’s still getting used to you, she doesn’t want you to back off, she wants you to engage! Hop in and show you're interested in building a bond. She has dyslexia, but no behavioral issues; she can read well enough and is going to a new school in the fall that will be really supportive of her educational needs.
Responsibilities
You'll start the day by picking her up from school! Depending on the day, you'll take her home or to dance class. When at home, you'll help with homework and maybe organize an arts and crafts activity or something else fun to do together. However, the parents don't want to pressure her (or you!) to be constantly doing something, so if she's wiped from the day, they also welcome you to just hang out together or watch a show to help her unwind from her busy schedule. In the summers, they can be flexible with what schedule works for the right person. If you need the summer off, that works for them! If you want to work in the summer, they're happy to have you do that, too. The girl goes to camp in the summer so they can continue the weekly hours. They also have a home in New Jersey, and will travel there for some time in the summer. If you'd like to come and work while they're there, they'd be happy to have you. If not, that works as well!
