PART-TIME NANNY: 2 great kids in Hamilton Heights!

Overview

Do you love building really strong bonds with the children in your care? Do you value making a great family's day a little easier? Can you drive? This lovely new SmartFamily would love to meet you! They're looking for a fantastic part-time nanny to care for their two children Monday through Friday, starting in mid-May. They have a bright, sweet 7-year-old girl and a personable, smart 9-year-old who happens to have mild/moderate cerebral palsy. They have an incredible relationship with their current nanny and can't wait to find another great relationship with their next one. It's required that the nanny can drive, as their son needs to be driven around the city. If you're a thoughtful, highly trustworthy and experienced nanny who would be excited to build an awesome relationship with this great family, apply today! It's $35/hour gross, and the family can offer 20 hours minimum guaranteed each week plus PTO, Sick Time, and a MetroCard.

The Ideal Sitter for this Job

One important requirement for this position is someone who DRIVES! You have a valid license, a clean driving record, and you're comfortable driving the family's car around the city. This is non-negotiable as their son needs to be driven from point A to point B. You are extremely responsible, loving and kind. You're also highly trustworthy. You enjoy deeply connecting with the kids you care for and are interested in doing so with both of their children. The family's current nanny has been a hugely positive influence in both of their lives; especially with their son, their current nanny truly sees him and watches out very closely for his safety. She's become a member of the family, and while they're sad to see her go, they can't wait to build another great bond with another fantastic nanny. They're also looking for someone who is Covid vaxxed and boosted with this year's flu shot (or willing to update before a trial if not already updated). It's also important that you're physically active; their son doesn't need to be carried or lifted, but for example, you need to hold his hand on stairs and if he falls, you need to be strong and sturdy enough to catch him. You're also very proactive, can anticipate his needs, and will keep a close eye on his safety.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 3 PM to 7:30 PM. If needed, they may be able to offer some extra hours, especially if you're willing to work for a few hours on a weekend day.

About the Children

Boy, 9: An engaged, personable, and smart boy who also happens to have mild/moderate cerebral palsy. He walks independently with braces on his legs most of the time, but also has a wheelchair for long distances and fatigue. He receives physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, both at school and some at home. Because of his physical disabilities, the family needs a nanny who can drive him. Doesn’t need to be lifted or transferred but on the stairs, he needs to hold your hand, if he falls you need to catch him. Girl, 7: A typically developing, precocious 7-year-old, who both loves her brother and loves to antagonize him like a typical little sister. She is smart, athletic, and kind. They are happy, energetic, inquisitive children who thrive with a responsive and engaged adult.

Responsibilities

They need someone comfortable driving in the city, as a big part of this job is driving the kids safely to and from where they need to go. Both parents are extremely busy professionals (they're scientists!), looking for a nanny that will hold down the home-front, help with homework, perhaps give them dinner, and keep things on track until they get home from work. You'll not only transport them from point A to point B, but ask them all about their days and engage them on their interests; you'll be both a fun pal to spend their afternoons with and a trusted confidant who looks out for their best interests. It's really important that you're a nanny who really loves what you do, and loves building strong relationships with the kids in your care. They can continue your weekly guarantee in the summer, and the kids' schedule doesn't shift too much as they're in camp! They may shift just an hour later, but they're happy to discuss this with you and work out something that works for everyone.
