PART-TIME NANNY: 3 kids with focus on 1 in Cobble Hill!
Overview
A wonderful returning SmartFamily in Cobble Hill is looking for an after-school superstar to join their team. This family has three girls: a 6-year-old, and her older sisters, who are 12 and 14. You'll mostly be working with their youngest, but there will be times you're with the older siblings as well, so they need someone happy to work with both age groups. They're looking for someone highly organized, mature, and caring. Their little one is super smart and just adorable! She has some big feelings, so they'd love to find a really empathetic and loving nanny who can guide her as she navigates those moments. You're also someone who works well with teenagers, and can engage with them on their interests, but you can also take a step back and give them their space too. They have the option for summer hours as well, and would love for you to live-in with them in the Berkshires; however, they are open to discussing a school-year-only role for the right candidate. It's $35 to $38/hour gross and the family is happy to guarantee 23 hours per week (and you'll often have the opportunity for more hours) plus PTO, Sick Time and a MetroCard. Please note, they're looking for someone who can be flexible to work one weekend day (Saturday night or Sunday, which will vary) at least 2-3 weekends per month.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
This family is looking for a mature and experienced part-time nanny. You're a team player and great communicator, both with the parents you're working for and with other staff in the home. They would also love to find someone creative! The ideal candidate is intuitive and caring with the kids in your care; you're experienced and can help a child with big feelings. This family doesn't align with traditional discipline styles: the ideal candidate for this role has an interest in kids' development and/or want to learn more. You want to be her friend and help her learn how to navigate these things. With her older siblings, you're someone who takes an interest in bonding with them, but you're also happy to give them their space too.
Schedule
Monday - Thursday: 2:45 PM to 7 PM with one late night per week (this can be a set night every week or flex). One weekend shift of 5 hours (either Saturday PM or Sunday), at least 2-3 weekends/month. They're happy to work with you ahead of time on which weekends/days are best on an ongoing basis. For this school year, they don't need most Fridays but appreciate the flexibility to work some Fridays from 3 PM-6 PM or so (next school year may be different). Additional flexibility to cover school days off, mild illness, etc. is also very helpful.
About the Children
Girl, 6: She's really bright! Mom says she is just a super smart, curious kid. Can have some big feelings, but this doesn't come up every day. At times, she might have a rough day at school and needs to come home to a loving, guiding hand to help her through that moment. Girl, 12: 6th grader! Really likes to come home, play piano, or read a book for a long time. Will be very happy to chat with you, but she’s a little shy and truly enjoys her alone time to unwind. Girl, 14: 8th grader! Pretty independent! She’s a really cool kid, plays guitar and viola, and likes to sing.
Responsibilities
You'll work primarily with their 6-year-old, and handle the after-school routine! You'll also occasionally need to supervise their 12 and 14-year-olds or perhaps take them to an activity every so often. Their housekeeper will also often be around (3 days a week) and can help lend a hand when/if all the kids need to be in different places at different times. She's really lovely, and you'll be working on a team with her! Some light household tasks may be needed in moments of downtime as well. They'd love to find someone who can continue working with them in the summer, but they can be flexible to pause in the summer too for the right candidate. If you're working with them in the summer, you'll need to be able to swim and drive, as you'll be traveling with them to the Berkshires! Please note, for summer work the guarantee may shift to 20 hours/week. The older kids will be in camp during most of the summer, so it'll just be their youngest. You'll do camp pickup, supervise swimming, and planning fun activities (for example, arts and crafts) to do together! When living in during that time in the Berkshires, you'll have a super comfortable private space and a kitchenette in the guest house.
Additional Information
Ideally, they'd love to find someone who can travel with the family (and therefore, drive and swim). For the right candidate, they can probably pause in the summers, but it would be great to have someone who can do it all. Please note, they're looking for someone who can be flexible to work one weekend day (Saturday night or Sunday, which will vary) at least 2-3 weekends per month.
