LIGHT PART TIME NANNY: 2 little boys on the Upper West Side!
Overview
This lovely new SmartFamily is looking for a stellar light part-time nanny starting this fall. They have two little boys, a 2.5 year old, and his baby brother who will be around 7 months at the start of this role. If you have great experience with both age groups and adore working with younger kids (and multiples) this is the job for you! They're ideally looking to start in August or September, and are prioritizing a great personality match. Someone highly engaging, professional and communicative will be ideal for this family. If you can speak French too, that would be great, as the family speaks French at home, but it's not a hard requirement. It's $33 to $35/hour gross and the family is happy to offer 16-19 hours/week guaranteed.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
You're engaging and warm! It's also highly important that you're professional, communicative and punctual. The family speaks French at home, so in an ideal world, they'd find a French speaker, but they're also open to an experienced, loving nanny who doesn't. Even if you're open to reading their French books to them, and learning a few words on Duo Lingo, that's extremely helpful. Their kids attend a Montessori school, and they generally appreciate that approach, but they're pretty laid back overall. They certainly appreciate a gentler, mindful approach: for example, if there's a conflict with their toddler, you discuss what happened in a way he understands, count to 10 together, take some deep breaths, rather than just disciplining or putting him in time out.
Schedule
Monday through Thursday: 3:30 to 7:30 PM If you'd prefer a 3 or 3.5 hour shift, that's mostly what they'll need, but they're happy to provide a 4 hour minimum if needed. They'd also welcome one set date night per week, if their ideal sitter is interested. Thursday nights would be ideal for that!
About the Children
Boy 2 months, but closer to 7 months at the start of this job: So far, really similar in calmness to his brother. Looks just like him too! Doing a great job sleeper. He does have a benign tumor on his neck, has some physical therapy. That should go away on its own within his first year. Boy 2.5 years: No allergies, picky eater but getting better. Generally has the sweetest demeanor. He’s not shy, outgoing and social, now at the age where they’re starting to break from parallel play and playing together. Really loves art, loves to draw and paint. Loves music and dancing, he takes a dance class on the weekends. Very sweet, good listener. Trains, buses, planes. Gets speech therapy twice a week for articulation, was a little slow in producing his language at first. Might be done by the fall.
Responsibilities
You'll get them after school around 3:30 PM. After, you'll engage them in some playtime, possibly in the playroom in their building, or maybe a trip to the playground. After, you'll take them home and unwind, and give them each some dinner. They'll ask for no screen time while you're there, and instead engaging in playtime and books, and someone who will truly enjoy connecting with their kiddos. The parents will come home and do bedtime! They're happy to provide a 4 hour minimum, but if you're interested in 3 or 3.5 hours, they're likely to be home by 6/6:30 (you're also able to pick them up from school at 3:00 if you prefer an earlier day as well).
Additional Information
A 4 year college degree is required for this role. Covid vaccination and boosters, annual flu shot, and MMR vaccine (either proof of updated vaccine or willingness to get it before a trial) are required as well.
